James Mason is totally menacing and he does it without a trace of overacting, he's just in the (evil) zone and he just oozes spookiness in every scene. And Reggie Nalder is a beast as Barlow. The rest of the cast is a who's who of character actors from movies and TV. The music is great too, the main title theme and throughout, it's like a Hitchcock soundtrack created by Bernard Herrmann.
