rugen
It appears that the Rush's catalogue will be re-mix in 5.1: http://www.rushisaband.com/ Which album would you buy? The entire discography or none? For me as much as i like a good 5.1 re-mix i don't like having to pick in my pocket to grab more money to buy stuff that i already have, so i am going to stick with specific albums : "Permanent Waves", "Counterparts" and "A Farewell to Kings"
subdivisor
def must haves: power windows, g/p, signals, permanent waves, hemispheres, and 2112
Rush Cocky
None. I am happy with the 97 remasters, thanks.
danielmclark
All of it. I'd buy the entire catalog in 5.1 if it's released that way. Yeah, it would cost a pretty penny, and I wouldn't do it all at once, but I'd do it. The '97 remasters are great, and if all they were doing was releasing another set of remasters, I'd probably pass. But to redesign and reshape the music into a 5.1 format is different.

fledgehog
i'd probably give priority to the 80s albums, as they have the most going on sonically. a 5.1 mix of an album like Caress of Steel or A Farewell to Kings, though it would sound nice, wouldn't be as interesting as Power Windows or Hold Your Fire. Just an Escape Artist
If 5.1 means MVI like Snakes and Arrows, I would buy in a heartbeat. I have it and sonicly it is outstanding, and very warm. My first picks would be: Vapor Trails (fix the rest of it first please) Farewell to Kings Presto Power Windows they should do all thier live albums especially All the Worlds a Stage
danielmclark
QUOTE (Jaminbenb @ Sep 23 2011, 03:24 PM) None...why mess with it? Does releasing the catalog in 5.1 somehow ruin your appreciation of the music in stereo? It's not like you'll never be able to listen to your stereo CDs ever again, after all. HowItIs
All of them... okay, not MP as I already have the 5.1 of that one. I wonder if they will release them in boxes like Genesis did? And, yes, I bought all of those
1 of the 7
Since I don't have good enough sound systems to take advantage of 5.1, the only one I'd probably go for is Vapor Trails, because I'm betting they'd fix a lot of the problems in the process of converting it (assuming they don't do a non-5.1 cleanup of VT). The improvements would be noticeable even on my systems.

rtrushfan
http://www.amazon.com/Sector-CD-Box-Set-Ru...16916165&sr=1-4 http://www.amazon.com/Sector-CD-Box-Set-Ru...16916165&sr=1-3 http://www.amazon.com/Sector-CD-Box-Set-Ru...16916165&sr=1-2 Check out these links from amazon.com Each are listed as 5 CD Box Sets, but I bet there are 10 discs per box, CD & DVD with 5.1 surround mix. I'd say the first box contains RUSH, Fly by Night, Caress of Steel, 2112, and A Farewell to Kings. The second box will have Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Signals, and Grace Under Pressure. And the third box will contain Power Windows, Hold Your Fire, Presto, Roll the Bones, and Counterparts. Now there's no 4th box listed currently. Maybe a 4th box will come out in Spring 2012 with Test for Echo, Vapor Trails, Feedback, Snakes & Arrows, and Clockwork Angels. Now this is all speculation of course, but I still think that's the only thing it could be. No sense in reissuing just the CDs again and we have had some confirmation from Geddy about Rich remixing the entire catalogue.
danielmclark
I'd say that's a good theory, but doesn't Mercury (or whoever the hell these days) still own everything up to ASOH while Atlantic (or whoever) owns everything from Presto onward? And now CA will be on Roadrunner? Or does that not matter? (Honest question, I don't actually know if it matters )
liddybuck01
unless they own all the rights to their music. my friends are in a band and they bought their first 3 albums from their old label. now they can do whatever they want to them. burgeranacoke
Most music sounds better in stereo to my ears, but it all depends on a lot of variables. take "The Beatles" box set, with the exception of the white album, the mono version is by far better than the stereo version.
