Lost In Xanadu
Not just a song from the 80's - but a song you would hear in a tribute to the 80's. That bubble gum-ish pop stuff.... For me, it's Africa by Toto
treeduck
I can't pick just one song dearie! I need a few thousand songs at least...all swirling around in my head, changing and coalescing over and over in an endless kaleidescopic soundscape... That One Guy
Synchronicity II - The Police. Great non-run anthem of the 80's Plus you've got your Def Leppards, your Bon Jovi's. Plenty of 80's to go around.

apetersvt
I try to forget the 80s as a decade in music. Take away PeW, MP, and ESL, you have a decade of music for which I typically never listen to (unless it's an 80s Grateful Dead show: for which I typically wish I were hearing a 70s Grateful Dead show instead) My favorite song from the 80s would be Natural Science. If you consider that a 70s song, Camera Eye would get the honor. Non Rush: Cliffs Of Dover would be a nominee other that it didn't come out until Feb 1990 (but was written and recorded in the 80s) Some songs off of Shake Your Moneymaker (Black Crowes) would be nominees as well but that didn't come out until Jan 1990. (once again written/recorded in the 80s). So, I will have to choose from the following but not one song stands out: Van Halen Metallica Appetite For Destruction - G-n-R As for the original post, I won't list a pop-ish song because I refuse to listen to anything that could be considered that. go2wrk@95974
I'd have to say "Spirit of radio". That song spoke to me right away as being a positive anthem for the start of the 80's..it was also one of the 1st hit songs of the 80's,being that the album PW was released on 1-1-80. Truly CLASSIC RUSH !!

1 of the 7
Some of my 80's faves: Obviously the big four by the Fixx - Stand Or Fall, Red Skies, One Thing Leads To Another, and Saved By Zero was my favorite song before Rush came back into the picture. Also gotta give a nod to Queen, so Another One Bites The Dust, Calling All Girls (yes, it was on MTV), Under Pressure, Who Wants To Live Forever Total Eclipse Of The Heart - Bonnie Tyler I Ran and Space Age Love Song - A Flock Of Seagulls Flesh For Fantasy - Billy Idol Burning Flame - Vitamin Z (too obscure)? How Soon Is Now - The Smiths Anything By Howard Jones, fave is Like To Get To Know You Well Forever Young - Alphaville (I liked this well before Napoleon Dynamite - it was originally in a movie about a debate team) On The Loose - Saga Out of Touch - Hall And Oates Alive and Kicking - Simple Minds Ah, Leah - Donnie Iris Come Back And Stay - Paul Young Fantasy - Aldo Nova Anything by the Thompson Twins - Doctor, Doctor my fave Only The Lonely and Suddenly Last Summer - The Motels A Little Respect, Chains of Love - Erasure I second 'Til Tuesday, Peter Schilling, Pet Shop Boys And one of my very favorite but obscure 80's songs - What About Me by Moving Pictures (the band, not the album)! If you're from outside of Australia, you've probably never heard this. This is just what I can think of off the top of my head...you're speaking my language on this stuff! Edit: How could I forget Tears For Fears? Just saw a live vid of them and it was...to use an 80's term...AWESOME.
