Segue Myles
I personally loved FTWD from episode one. I never got into TWD much. I think I got up to season four, but for whatever reason lost interest fast.
JohnnyBlaze
I’ve only seen a few episodes and some snippets of others since Negan appeared. And I haven’t really liked much of that. But for me, one of the big drops in show quality came when they wiped out the Terminus cannibals in the church a few seasons back. Just seemed like an anti-climactic ending to those baddies. The next big drop came when they reached Alexandria. Nobody of interest in there for me; too many generic/stock characters. The garbage site people (and Jadis? Isn’t that the leader’s name?) have got to be the dumbest thing on the show so far though.
Syrinx
Agreed on the garbage people - asinine. Don't know how they even thought that up.

The Cat 3
I saw a few episodes after Negan appeared but have kind of lost interest. The storyline is interesting but overly drawn out. The action scenes don't add much to episodes. The zombies are an afterthought and about as annoying as squirrels on my bird feeders. J2112YYZ
So, has anyone else seen the trailer for the upcoming season where it's very obvious that the walkers are speaking at the end of It? My interest in the show has definitely been renewed by this.

Still a pretty cool idea to try and survive. They can certainly take people by surprise who mistake them for walkers at first.

Surely, the show will follow that aspect of the comic.

JohnnyBlaze
How does the show move on without Rick? I’m not saying it can’t be done, I’m directly asking how it can be done. Anyone?

It will be like when That 70s Show continued on after Topher Grace left. It will fail immediately. The person it all revolved around will be gone. There's too big of a void to be filled. The show is Rick's story and should end with his death.

There were some classic episodes in there when I did watch though. You know TWD will continue even if it sucks though. Darryl as the lead. Or Michonne. Or both. I don’t think either actor would be good as the lead though. Edited October 3, 2018 by JohnnyBlaze
Syrinx
Even though they are losing viewers it is still one of AMC's top products. They will keep it going. I haven't read the comics for a couple of years. Does Rick get killed off there?
Mosher
Back when this was a well written show, and for me that means season 5, (many say season 1 only, or up to 3- but for me it was through 5) I thought this show cuold easily lose Rick and continue. For me this show's strength was it's ability to deconstruct humanity down to its most base level and look at who we really are. Rick was the focal point, but I could have readily switched to any other developed character. Now, though, after a few seasons of increasingly bad writing, I think it's doomed. It may continue, and it some meta fashion it will go on as walking dead itself. Cartoon characters, hole-ridden plots, magically armored villains, A-Team action sequences, terrible character decisions designed to further a bad plot point, and removing likable people. These all have contributed to a big decline in my opinion. Now, with a new show runner we will see. She probably can't draw more people in, but she CAN stop the bleeding. She's been there a long time, and she should be able to mark the moments when fans stopped. Look at what they did, and put it back. Start writing good episodes and have characters act in believable ways and I will like the show again. If they keep it poor, losing Rick will only drive people away with no reason to stick around.

I pretty much agree with all of that. For me, once they reached Alexandria that’s when it was certainly on a downward spiral. Even before that I thought it was heading down...especially how they quickly dispatched the Terminus group in that church. They had built up that enemy for a while but then they were hacked down faster than you can say “cannibal”. :P I didn’t even see nearly all of last season (think I saw one episode) because the season preceding that was really crap. Hell, I don’t even know which season they’re currently on.
Rushman14
I gotta say Season 9 is off to a strong start. I'm actually interested in what happens next. Best thing they did was get a new show runner. Gimple is now in the process of ruining Fear.

Mosher
Angela Kang is doing very good things with the broken shards of a once great show. She can't fix everything that was broke, at least not right away. She has to accept the bad ideas handed to her and use them. But she's doing far better than I expected, and to her credit. I like this season so far better than the last two, and it isn't close. Fingers crossed!
