barney_rebel
QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Apr 21 2005, 08:11 AM) QUOTE (barney_rebel @ Apr 20 2005, 07:44 PM) Anything in moderation is fine. Anyone hooked on either is a loser, IMO. That being said, if you can afford to blow your money on either - all the power to you. Marijuana is not a physically addictive drug. It can be a habit(pyschologically addictive), but people do not suffer from withdrawl, get sick, etc...like with heroin, alcohol, etc... http://www.friendlystranger.com/info/what.htm#addictive Not physically addictive, but one can spend all their time and money using it - which is no better IMO. Dweezil
It releases us from society imposed limits and therefore we are more apt to express ourselves musically, artistically etc. All that shit ingrained into us that stops us from being our free selves is garbage. f***ing society blows. DonnaWanna
QUOTE (dweezil @ Apr 20 2005, 08:13 PM) QUOTE (Cygnus @ Apr 20 2005, 03:00 PM) QUOTE (CygnusX-1Bk2 @ Apr 20 2005, 04:51 PM) Cannabis is a naturally occurring plant that is helpful to the environment in many ways and is an ecologically sound source for fuel, food, paper, rope, fiberboard, medicine and clothing. Basically this plant can do anything and is a terribly untapped resource. The reason it is illegal in this country is because William Randolph Hearst's investment in Rainforest property to cultivate oxygen providing trees to use for paper was threatened by a Popular Mechanics article demonstrating a (then) new hemp harvester, the first of it's kind, to mass harvest hemp for the first time. Hearst used his power in the media and politics to declare war on hemp in all forms in America, going so far to claim that Greeks, Mexicans, and Blacks all smoked cannabis and then committed crimes. In many states the people have spoken to decriminalize cannabis, with much resistance from Federal levels, while during terms of at least 2 presidents who have themselves partaken. There is no amount of THC (psychoactive ingredient) that can kill a person. But just like Alcohol or other narcotics, there is enough that once one is impaired, others could die. I'd rather deal with someone stoned on pot than a drunk person any day. Nature made marijuana, man made beer. Who you gonna trust? thats so true But im not sure if im for legalizing it theyd prolly Tax the sh*t outta it and it would cost more to buy from the Gov. then from my friendly "Herb Man" and Im sure the Gov would stick some kinda chemicals in it for gain on there side Like to preserve its "shelflife" and all that other crap, so it wouldnt be Natural any longer But the HEMP plant has soooooo many benifits to us theyr stupid not to use it in other situations like, paper, clothin ect... Itll save the length of time for this planet thats for sure, if we dont have to realy on Trees as much Pluse its sucha pretty plant http://image03.webshots.com/3/9/1/91/155890191piYPjE_ph.jpg MMMM hemp candy too! http://www.hempcandy.net/
defrushfan01
I have never done that drug, never will and if you want to blow all your money on it go ahead, and it should be legalized, and we as the United States could put a huge Tax on it to make more money for the economy,

All of us cigarette smokers are paying off the f***ing deficit as it is. As well as those that consume alcohol. Why not tax peeps that have babies? Buy potato chips? Pop? Wait. This should be in politics methinks

Indica
What Does '420' Mean? From Denise Witmer, A discussion on our Parenting Advice and Support Forum, had this Guide in puzzlement. I had reported years ago that the term 420(pronounced four twenty, not four hundred and twenty), was police code for smoking marijuana in a feature on pager codes that teenagers use to "talk" to each other. I began researching the number again and it seems I was wrong. Read on to learn the myths, the truth about the origin and what this term means for parents. Known Myths * Police dispatch code for smoking pot is 420. The number 420 is not police radio code for anything, anywhere. Checks of criminal codes suggest that the origin is neither Californian nor federal. For instance, California Penal Code 420 defines as a misdemeanor the hindrance of use of public lands. * There are approximately 420 active chemicals in marijuana. Actually, there are approximately 315 active chemicals in marijuana. This number goes up and down depending on which plant is used. * April 20th is National Pot Smokers Day. Well, it is now; but that wasn't the origin. * April 20th is Hitler's birthday. Yes, it is his birthday. But, as 420 started out as a time, not a date, his birthday had nothing to do with it. * April 20th is the date of the Columbine school shootings. This happened after the term was already in use. * 4:20 is tea time for pot-smokers in Holland. Tea time in Holland is at 5:30 pm, or is it 2:30 pm? Seems no one is quite sure when the wonderful people of Holland drink their tea. The Origin Revealed According to Steven Hager, editor of High Times, the term 420 originated at San Rafael High School, in 1971, among a group of about a dozen pot-smoking wiseacres who called themselves the Waldos, who are now pushing 50. The term was shorthand for the time of day the group would meet, at the campus statue of Louis Pasteur, to smoke pot. Intent on developing their own discreet language, they made 420 code for a time to get high, and its use spread among members of an entire generation. While our teens feel that they know something we don't, you can let them in on the fact that it was your generation that came up with the numbers. A quote from one of the Waldos in the High Times article states, "We did discover we could talk about getting high in front of our parents without them knowing by using the phrase 420." Fortunately, your teenagers will not have that same option. Whatever! Simply put, 420 is a symbol of cannabis and its culture. Today, April 20th events are international, and 4:20 pm has become sort of a world wide "burn time". It certainly doesn't matter too much where the term came from because for us parents, it's a flag, a warning sign that our teenagers may be into something that could harm their future. When you see the symbol 420, be aware of what it represents.

Grandpa Grizz
Back in the day, it was called "13". That stood for the 13th letter of the alphabet, M. You would even see people with a small "13" tattoo.
