  1. That was really fun seeing that with you and Robin.
  2. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Nov 14 2007, 06:47 PM)QUOTE (Grandpa Grizz @ Nov 14 2007, 05:31 PM) Star Trek is iconic of it's era, the sixties, a time of dreams. This loving update in quality will insure it's endurance as a time capsule for future generations. That... that's beautiful! Oh, shut up!
  3. They really did a good job on this, and I highly approve. The purists always have the original DVD version, and the rest of us have a picture that is free from scratches and has vibrant color and deeper contrast. It's much more 3-D and the closeups are stunning. In The Menagerie the Cage scenes that are viewed on the Enterprise monitor are the old picture that suddenly becomes the new picture once the monitor frame disappears. That really highlights the difference. The old exterior special effects simply wouldn't work with the vastly improved picture. As was pointed out in the 'remastering of' featurette, the effects would have been done this way originally if they had had the technology. Star Trek is iconic of it's era, the sixties, a time of dreams. This loving update in quality will insure it's endurance as a time capsule for future generations.

  5. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Dec 29 2006, 01:26 PM)Yes, Quiet Sun was Phil Manzanera's band. It also included one Brian Eno as well. How many Brian Enos are there?
  6. The Trees? I told you to play In The End. You done good, Goobie.
  7. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Dec 18 2006, 11:37 AM)QUOTE (launchpad67a @ Dec 18 2006, 08:18 AM) Careful Goob, After 1 day of your strange music, they will force you to play Celine Dion and Air Supply non-stop until Clay Aiken and William Hung show up in dresses and do a duet of "She Bangs" !! Somehow, I doubt it. No, this station is very open-minded, community based and non-commercial. I think if someone played Air Supply and Celine Dion they'd be politely asked to leave. Actually, Goob, there's a city ordinance against those particular artists. One can only listen to them on headphones. Looking forward to your first show today!
  8. I've often thought it could be just as easily titled Lerxst and Ged's Excellent Adventure.
  9. As Good As It Gets is as good as it gets.

Hey Grizz are you really a grandpa or is it just some sort of cute, quirky nickname that just somehow stuck about 15 years ago...?? I'm not a grandpa, but my two younger brothers are. My screenname was developed in a chat one evening. One young chatter was calling me Grandpa. Another chatter, a personal friend, liked to call me Grizz. My last name is Grizzle. Since I'm so much older than most people on the boards, I liked it. Plus, at the time, it gave people from another board a way to recognize me, as I was known there by my real name. Lots of peeps just call me Grizz. Cool. Hey you remind me of someone in your pic...I can't think who it is yet though... Sir Laurence Olivier?

  14. QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Aug 6 2006, 09:32 AM)- Peter Seller's THE PARTY (often overlooked) A classic. Rent it some time. They got stoned in Harold and Maude. No one has mentioned Bongwater. It features Jack Black as the cosmic grower. Bongwater 1998-USA-Romantic Comedy/Ensemble Film PLOT DESCRIPTION Oregon pot dealer David (Luke Wilson) is perfectly happy with his uninspired artwork and sonambulstic slacker life. Along wih his layabout gay friends -- Tony (Andy Dick) and Robert (Jeremy Sisto) -- David seems to have no worries as long as the marijuana crop keeps coming in. But a social hitchhiker named Serena (Alicia Witt) finds her way into David's life and a relationship staggers to full blossom. As David gets more serious about his art, thanks to Serena's encouragement, Serena leaves to try out the rock 'n' roll life of New York City. David numbs his feelings for Serena with meaningless sex with her friend Mary (Brittany Murphy) and a wild mushroom-induced adventure in the woods with Jennifer (Amy Locane) and a zany drug guru Devlin (Jack Black). Meanwhile, Serena gets a brutal wakeup call about life in the big city and returns home to David. But is that the best thing for both of them? ~ Buzz McClain, All Movie Guide

  17. Speaking of films from TV shows, I have been wondering whatever happened to Babylon 5. So i googled. Turns out it's old news, but efforts to make the movie failed. http://www.jmsnews.com/msg.aspx?id=1-17289 In the end, however, the deal could (not) be put together, and it did not look as if that was going to change at any point in the foreseeable future. So the option has reverted, and to all intents and purposes, the project has dead ended. Nor do I think this particular incarnation will arise again at any point in the future, though prognostication has always been a tricky art, especially if you have to do it without the benefit of hindsight. This was not the first time someone's taken a run at a B5 feature film, and it will not be the last. Eventually it will happen, because such things are simply inevitable. If they can do a Brady Bunch movie, you can be sure that sooner or later, somebody's going to do a B5 movie. The only thing I can say without equivocation is that when that day comes, as the rights-holder, I will make darned sure that it's done right, because I'd rather have no B5 movie than one that doesn't live up to what fans and I myself would want to see. To that end...I can wait.
