Van Halen 1

King's X....Out Of The Silent Planet

Dio....Holy Diver (solo debut but not really his debut)

Boston s/t

Fastway s/t

Galactic Cowboys s/t

Yngwie Malmsteen...Rising Force

in a few of these cases and others an artist's or band's debut wasnt their first work and after toiling and sharpening their skills in other bands they more or less formed a "supergroup" and put out an amazing album. Most of the time they never reached amazing again due to the "supergroup" disbanding, egos straining the tensions within, or the well dried up and the magic just wasnt there ever again.

Boston, Fastway, Dio, and Yngwie all examples of that.

Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced
John Lennon - Plastic Ono Band

Way too hard to call. All three of his albums are pretty much on an equal level in their diversity.

Have to agree on 'Plastic Ono Band' but 'Imagine' is VERY close.

GnR is the most obvious to me. Appetite was so monumental and then the group tanked pretty quickly, althiugh Use Your Illusion had some decent suff.

Boston is the 2nd one that comes to mind

"Led Zeppelin"

I dont know if I agree 100% but I know where yer goin' with that. I love that first album and I really cant argue with that.

I am in the minority that loves the early stuff way much more than the mid to late 70's Zep.

I didn't think Appetite was the first GnR album, but I guess it technically was their first full length album when you don't count the EP...

That first Boston album was monumental, it still is!

Cinderella "Night Songs" tongue.gif

I saw Cinderella open for David Lee Roth, Europe (remember that crap?), and Bon Jovi all in the timeframe of 1986-1987. With a small exception of Bon Jovi (they almost did it to them as well), I've never seen an opening act blow away headliners like they did back then, and that was when DLR had both Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan in his band.
