I get why if you're playing at a bar and the people want to hear Rush songs, well in that situation then yeah, you want to sound like Rush, but if you're going to post videos on youtube, then I dont want to hear Rush clones, we already have tons of live videos of the real band up there. I dont care about who can play bass as good as geddy, or drums as good as neil, many musicians can do that, I have a bit more respect for someone that can take a 27 year old song, and somehow make it sound modern again by changing everything in it except for the basic melodies, and get the attention of the band on top of it. Really happy for that guy, he deserves it. Wish I thought of it damnit! =) It just goes to show the timeless nature of good song writing. Subdivisions may sound very dated now, but you get a guy with a really good natural voice and some ability on a guitar and look what you can do with old songs.
