I finally picked this up...a good friend said it's a must-read, plus I just saw "Supersize Me" recently, so...

Basically I never want to step foot inside a fast food place ever again. Not that I ate it very often, but now I'm more committed than ever to eating REAL food.

It does endorse In N Out Burgers, though. Once I learned that my stomach couldn't handle Popeye's anymore, I gave up fast food altogether.

Yeah...we don't have In N Out here in the land of KFC and Jacks... 062802puke_prv.gif

It's not in Chicago, either. I only get one sometimes when I go back to Phoenix. It's good, but not oh wow good. If I remember, part of the endorsement is because they treat their employees very well.

Yes, true. I had a burger from In N Out when I went to California a while back. It was pretty good, but then I was really hungry after a long flight, too. smile.gif

You'll be even more committed to that after reading that book. yes.gif Wait till you get to the part when they tell you what else is in the meat. ohmy.gif

Sorry...wasn't thinking too clearly yesterday.

It was none other than 1-0-0-1-0-0-1 who recommended this book.

I just finished Napalm and Silly Putty, by George Carlin, yesterday. I have about 6 sheets of paper covered in quotes from it now I just couldn't help myself; I had to write them down, because I'm not willing to buy the book. Here are two of my favorites:

"A crazy person doesn't lose his mind. It becomes something more interesting."

"The IQ and the life expectancy of the average American recently passed each other going in opposite directions."

I just bought Emma by Jane Austen. I'll start it as soon as I'm done with Fast Food Nation.

"The Bean Trees" by Barbara Kingsolver.

She's my sister's favorite author. I've already read Kingsolver's short story collection "Homeland," and that was okay. So now I'm giving one of her novels a chance.
