I actually heard it correctly for YEARS, as I was quite familiar with the quote. Then I came here, and it's been all lemony cake ever since.

Me too, being a lover of history I knew exactly what was being said. The "lemony cake" thing is hilarious but it never would have occured to me on my own. laugh.gif

"Plenty of people will kill you, For some fun and a good cause"

ahem.

"Look around this world we've made, The quality of stock exchange, Come and join the Brotherhood of Man"

...kinda subverts the meaning of the song in hindsight doh.gif

My user name comes from a friend who miss-heard The Weapon.

"He's a little bit afraid of dying...But he's a lot more afraid of your lion"

Now that's all I ever hear when I listen to that song

what part of the song is that?

on the 'All the world's a stage' version at one of the break's near the end you can hear Mike Myers' brother scream "nighthawk" (the name of his band at the time)

Ah, I just played it and heard it for the first time. Funny, I've been listening to that album since like 1976 and never discovered it before. By The Way, which Mike Myers are you refering to? The Wayne's World guy or some other one?

As a kid, I was 15 at the time, I've always wondered why there are 'eight million Red Barchettas from a better vanished time'. That was senceless for a long time until I looked it up in the lyric sheet of the vinyl and went ohmy.gif !

It's not particularly funny but I used to think Anthem said. " They marvelled after those who sought and wound up in the world they'd rot." Edited by ioc

...of course that was before I knew how to speak "Geddy" Now I rarely, if ever, mishear lyrics. Even "Armor & Sword" I heard "at the feet of a god unknown" Just seemed natural...all thanks to:

Not a misquote of TS but my wife asked the other day, "What is this song about?".

You should tell her it's about a guy who floated down a river on a raft with a black guy. laugh.gif

That's not Tom Sawyer! That's Huckleberry Finn stupid!

Duhh! The song is "Tom Sawyee"

Some of mine in the past:

"All through your days, a prisoner in chains"

Damn, all these years. I'm not joking either, that's how I've heard it. Guess it pays to read the lyrics.

"The clowns prepare for battle..." biggrin.gif

I can never hear Fly By Night right ever again... years ago someone mentioned the "chickens are coming and I just can't pretend" thing to me and ever since then...

And back when Tom Sawyer was brand new I thought it was about Space Invaders too, lol.
