  1. maybe I should have posted this is new world women...
  2. As a TRUE RUSH FAN I must know this... are they circumsized?? Geddy is a Jew so he must be of course, but what about Alex and Neil? Does anyone know??
  3. QUOTE (snowdogged @ Jun 27 2012, 08:14 PM) The funniest thing about this thread is does anyone really think Geddy cares if people are criticizing his vocals? I think he has grown a little thick skinned about people saying that his voice is no good for close to 40 years. who cares what Geddy thinks?
  4. How exactly am I a troll again?
  5. my favorite song on FBN, second only to By-Tor maybe.
  6. QUOTE (eshine @ Jun 27 2012, 02:14 AM) It's funny listening to complainnts about Geddys voice and "enunciation" by a bunch of dudes who probably couldn't jog in place for a minute without puking. Geddy sounds really strong on the new album Stop being little bitches, for f**k sakes. so because I can't sing like Geddy, I can't critique his voice? On an album that the band has marketed to me and I've paid money for? I never said anything about Geddy's voice not being strong... I said he's not enunciating his words. It's very noticeable to anyone with half a brain... listen to CA, and then listen to Signals... or any album pre-S&A for that matter. It sounds like Geddy just got back from the dentist when he recorded the vocals on CA
  7. QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Jun 27 2012, 03:04 PM) God love our mods here. They are more patient people than me for sure dealing with all the asinine morons creating shit-wipe topics like this. I would have "Darwin-ed" at least five people the past month, and damned good riddance. To the mods! so let me get this straight... a discussion about the NEW ALBUM and the sound of Geddy's voice on it, is a "shit-wipe topic" to you? What would you rather be discussing, how much you fantasize about being gang banged and golden showered by Neil Geddy and Alex?

At first I thought he was only doing this on live performances, but he's doing it all over CA. Parts of Carnies come to mind... but it's in just about every song. Maybe they really do need to start sticking to instrumentals... I can't hear you... In fact, YOUR voice seems muffled for some reason. http://winnietoons.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/asshole.jpg I guess the fanboys are out in full force tonight Yes, fans outnumber the little dweebs who didn't get enough attention from mommy so they troll around the interwebs trying to start shit. The interwebs, where you can anonymously mouth off and never worry about losing some teeth. (your type couldn't get away with that in High School) Geddy sings the way he aways sang. RUSH fans dig it. the definition of a "troll" is not someone you disagree with. I've been a fan of this band for over 20 years, I'm not trying to "start shit". You need to crawl back to your mommy's basement and let the adults talk.
  9. QUOTE (jc4gd @ Jun 26 2012, 09:35 PM) It's just sad that people say these things.............I mean don't we all hear his voice and notice stuff? But still these are our brothers, we look up to them. We love them. Yeah, we wish we could deny they are growing old even as we ourselves are but that's not how it is........"Between how it is and how it ought to be"(sorry, had to throw that in.).........these guys are human, and not perfect..................again it's sad people start unnecessary threads just to 'enlighten' us or is it to show how dark and shallow they are? I hope you're kidding... I love Rush's music, but Geddy is not my brother and I don't "love him". In fact I've never met him, and I'm guessing you haven't either.

  11. the first time I read the tracklist I thought it was called "The Antichrist". Sounds like a title right up Neil's alley
  12. QUOTE (Lerxster @ Jun 26 2012, 08:21 PM) QUOTE (CantStopThinkingBig @ Jun 26 2012, 07:27 PM) Lately he's singing like he's got a mouth full of cotton. At first I thought he was only doing this on live performances, but he's doing it all over CA. Parts of Carnies come to mind... but it's in just about every song. Maybe they really do need to start sticking to instrumentals... Do you have more than one example, or will this be your stupidest thread I gave you an example... the entire CA album. Here's some more... go listen to every live recording from 2007-2011
  13. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jun 26 2012, 08:10 PM) http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e85/rushgoober6/crazy-pills.jpg So this must be what people feel like when I've put down VT, because honestly, I'm not fathoming why people are hating on this really amazing new album Rush just put out. I know it's still early on in the game, but it's surpassed my expectations by such a wide margin that I wouldn't have thought it possible. This album really has a ridiculous level of depth to it. I was hoping against hope for 2 or 3 great songs, and it's got more like 8 or 9 or 10, and a few of those are some real classics! The only song I really don't dig is BU2B2, and that's only 90 seconds! Seriously, a band at this age making music THIS good is virtually unheard of, especially considering their track record for the past 25 years has not been without its low points. Anyway, I've been hesitant to express quite this level of enthusiasm before, as I know it takes a good 6 months to a year for an album to really sink in, and it's possible my opinion of the album could still drop over time as it did with S&A to an extent, but some of the recent hate has seriously puzzled me, and I had to write about it. Surely some of those who aren't liking CA will be commenting in this thread, and just know that that in my mind, and in many others' minds, that you are SERIOUSLY missing out. I feel sorry for you, because this is a great, great latter day Rush album. I'm honestly surprised you like it, since it more closely resembles VT in style and energy than it does the horrid S&A.
  14. QUOTE (Bastille Dave @ Jun 26 2012, 08:12 PM) I've always loved their use of the word "droll". How rock n roll is that? don't give me speeches cause they're oh so droll! leave me alone let me rock and roll!! I suppose that would sound a little silly coming from 60 year old Geddy. I also like the "impatient cat" line
  15. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Jun 26 2012, 08:14 PM) QUOTE (NYM86 @ Jun 26 2012, 07:57 PM) Must say, it IS a bit shocking when you look at videos from, say, the Grace Under Pressure tour. Check out this 1984 performance of New World Man: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR-ATNh3Dto Crystal clear articulation...I don't even think I enunciate this well when I'm speaking conversationally. So it's definitely been a big drop-off since those days, but that's nitpicking. We're lucky that they're still even recording. Well yeah, Geddy was like 28 at that time and in the vocal prime of his life. Now pushing 60, like ReflectedLight said, he isn't exactly fresh out of the gate anymore You're right though, we're lucky that they're still recording and touring. I think most people understand that while Geddy is still a solid singer, he can't do it as good as he used to. I only started noticing it around the time of S&A though. It seems like that's when his voice began a sharp downward spiral.
  16. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 25 2012, 12:42 AM) QUOTE (CantStopThinkingBig @ Jun 24 2012, 09:44 PM) so God is the observer? We're all the observers, whoever is there to observe. so if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to observe, does the tree really fall? Does the tree even exist?

  18. QUOTE (workingcinderellaman @ Jun 26 2012, 06:41 PM) QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 26 2012, 05:04 PM) QUOTE (workingcinderellaman @ Jun 25 2012, 08:50 AM) So I saw it last Friday and I was pleasantly surprised. It was very entertaining and much better than I had hoped for. It wasn't a typical Tim Burton style that Mara was worried about. If you like action movies you'll like this one. Also, there was quite a bit of historical facts that they tied into the story which made it fun. I recommend it. Who stars in it? Not Matt Damon? This guy: http://www.examiner.com/sites/default/files/styles/image_full_width/hash/24/37/Abraham%20Lincoln%20Vampire%20Slayer%208%20Alan%20Markfield.jpg I'm surprised Johnny Depp didn't get the role... too short?
  19. I'm sure they could pull it off...
  20. I'm still trying to warm up to it
  21. QUOTE (billybobjoe1881 @ Jun 26 2012, 12:00 AM) Can somebody post the official link to them bringing strings on tour. there isn't one... it's all just speculation. I seriously doubt it's going to happen... mostly likely all the "strings" will be triggered by foot pedals.
  22. You're assuming they're even going to play it...
  23. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jun 25 2012, 11:30 PM) QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Jun 21 2012, 06:38 PM) QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Jun 21 2012, 07:44 PM) Honestly, I could care less about the story. It's ALL about the music..... Agreed. Like I once said, if the music doesn't first speak to me, the lyrics never will. I feel EXACTLY the opposite. so you don't like instrumentals?
  24. I stand for like the first 3 songs, then I sit down. Sitting down doesn't mean I'm not enjoying the band any less, it means my legs are tired.
  25. I like the title track, I never got into the rest of it though. Might have to give it another listen, it's been about 10 years...
