Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World (David Bowie)

Whether you love or hate Nirvana, this cover is one of the all-time greatest covers ever.

From day one of hearing the 'Unplugged' album, I was hooked, and this was one of the main reasons.

That, and LAKE OF FIRE (Meat Puppets). Another outstanding cover by Kurt and Co. 1022.gif

I prefer their version of Jesus Don't Want Me For A Sunbeam, but yeah, The Man Who Sold is brilliant.

"Subdivisions" ~ Jacob Moon (Rush)

Oh yeah - seriously like his version!

also agree with folks that said - Stone Cold Crazy and All the Young Dudes - great stuff.

Let me add a few more..

Def Leppard - Rock On (2006), David Essex (1973)

Cheap Trick - Ain't That A Shame (1979), Fats Domino (1955)

Joaquin Phoenix- I walk The Line (2005, Johnny Cash (1956)

I guess we could start separate thread "Worst Covers of all Time" - But why bother?? There would be so many.

the Sundays' "Wild Horses" (1993) to Rolling Stone's original

The Sunday's are great. One of my favorite pop bands. Wild Horses is a great version.

One of the few covers where I prefer the cover to the original:

Guns N Roses Mama Kin from GNR Lies (1988) (Aerosmith, 1973)

I suppose I should throw in GNRs Knockin' On Heavens Door from Use Your Illusion II (1991) (Bob Dylan, 1973)

i like Steven Wilson's version of "Thank You"

I've recently discovered this little gem. Great performance by him on the Blackfield live album.

"Friend of the Devil" by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (One of the ultimate live bands)

I really like Kiss's version of 2,000 Man (1979) over the Rolling Stones' original.

I have to agree with this one!

I quite like the Kiss Unplugged version as well.

Def Leppard's cover of Badfinger's "No Matter What" is amazing.

In fact, I'd encourage anyone to pick up a copy of Def lepaprd's cover album, "Yeah!", you won't be disappointed.

Metallica's "Stone Cold Crazy" is equal to Queen's.

Blasphemy!!! smile.gif

Seriously...Metallica does a great job with it, but I, humbly, disagree.

No disrespect, of course.
