"I'm a murdering bastard, you know that. And there are consequences to breaking the heart of a murdering bastard."

How I loved him in Kill Bill!

That dialogue is one of the most exciting scenes I've ever seen.

Shocking news....R.I.P. David. I remember watching Kung Fu religiously as a kid

Hard to believe his last movie is Big Stan...he was pretty funny playing a parody of himself basically....Rob Schneider flicks are usually hit and miss but I actually though it was pretty funny..

A preliminary report suggests it may have been suicide.

I'm inclined to wait for the official investigation to be finished first but there is speculation out there that it might not be suicide and that it was an "accidental" hanging....the Michael Hutchence method of death if you know what I mean eh.gif

This is a devastating day for me and Johnny Blaze, we are HUGE Kung Fu freaks and this is a massive blow...

sad.gif

I was all set to watch the DVD of the show, which would be for the first time in about 20 years, and I was going to start a thread about it, but I think I'll put that off for now.

This is a sad loss for us fans, I like a lot of his other work but Kung Fu has special place in my heart.

Condolences to the Carradine clan.

We will miss you Kwai Chang Cain.

Man, I used check out K Fu in the 70's. He was great in it.

Series intro, Part 1! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKMgceSkqrY

Here's the scene that Tom Sawyer posted about on the previous page of this thread.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5kBqrHphjo

And a great quote from a fellow Fu fan on YouTube I just stumbled across...

"I haven't revisited Kung Fu in decades and I am just astounded by the depth of it. The 70s may have given us polyester suits and disco, but there was still a place for this quiet, spiritually and morally reflective stuff on tv. Today we are assaulted by flailing images and loud bombast, often barked at by talking heads as to what we should think. Kung Fu, by contrast, gave us ideas and lessons to think upon and the quietude and space in which to think upon them."

From an article:

But despite an enthusiasm for his work, the actor had openly discussed his battle with suicidal thoughts. In a 2004 interview, Carradine said: "I remember one time sitting at the window of the third or fourth floor of the Plaza Hotel for about an hour, thinking about just tipping off."

He also said he had considered shooting himself.

"Look, there was a period in my life when I had a single action Colt 45, loaded, in my desk drawer. And every night I'd take it out and think about blowing my head off, and then decide not to and go on with my life. Put it back in the drawer and open the laptop and continue writing my autobiography or whatever. But it was just to see."

Yeah I am aware he had discuss suicidal thoughts in interviews before.

It's all speculation but I'm pretty sure it was a suicide....some reports out there have stated rope was found around his neck and "other body parts".

either way it is very sad to say the least sad.gif

How someone who has so much can suffer from such depression is beyond me, and very sad.

He was so unique. I remember first learning that he was the son of John Carradine, you older folks (like me) might remember him best as Ga-ga Mr. Gateman on the Munsters. I really took a shine to John even before I started watching David. Robert Carradine was his half-brother. (Revenge of the nerds and and the father of Lizzie McGuire) and half-bro of Keith Carradine.

The talent will continue; I'm sure.

Thanks for a lot of great entertainment Dave. Godspeed!

Depression is not cause by lack of wealth.

It's a medical condition and all the ice cream and cake in the world won't make it go away.

Unfortunately this reminds me of when Brad Delp decided to have a BBQ inside his bathroom.

Damn, what a way to snuff it. Totally depressing and David might have been suffering from the same thing.

Very sad. Bottom line.

Carradine may have died from sex act: Thai police

US actor David Carradine may have died from a sex act gone wrong, Thai police said Friday, as they probed the evidence after the "Kung Fu" star was found hanged in his Bangkok hotel room.

A maid at the luxury hotel in the Thai capital where he was staying found Carradine hanging naked and bound in a closet Thursday morning, they said. He was 72.

"There was a rope tied around his neck and another rope tied at his sex organ, and the two ropes were tied together and hung in the closet," police commander, Lieutenant General Worapong Siewpreecha, told reporters.

"Under these circumstances we cannot be sure that he committed suicide but he may have died from masturbation," he said.

The star of 1970s TV series "Kung Fu" and the "Kill Bill" movies was in the Thai capital to shoot a film called "Stretch."

Police had questioned the production crew working on the film, who told them the actor "drank beer from morning until evening the day before he was found dead," Worapong said.

An autopsy report is expected within the next day, while forensic police have dusted Carradine's hotel room and are testing a drink found there.

They have also asked the United States embassy for permission to question his wife, Worapong said.

Forensic expert Porntip Rojanasunan, who works with Thailand's Ministry of Justice, said the death appeared to be caused by an "auto-erotic accident."

"It's not suicide or murder but he died... after masturbation," Porntip told AFP.

Police officer Pirom Janthapirom told AFP that there was no sign of bruising on Carradine's body. Security cameras showed no one going in or out of Carradine's room, which had been locked from the inside, he said.

The producer of "Stretch," French firm MK2, said Carradine was found three days before the end of filming for the movie.

A spokesman for the company said Carradine's death "could be accidental," while a spokesman for his Los Angeles agents said the "circumstances surrounding his death are still unknown."

"The Carradine family is devastated by the news of David?s passing," said Julie Nathanson. "There will be no further comment until more information can be confirmed."

Carradine's manager, Chuck Binder, paid tribute to the actor, telling the BBC: "He was full of life, always wanting to work... a great person."

True.

Plenty of places for "funny" stuff elsewhere. Jeez.

OK....I didn't get it exactly right...but I was close. (My theory was he was with a Thai prostitute when he died)

BTW does this make it better?

Exactly, which is what makes it such a mystery - or adds to the mystery anyway.

Not a real shock, considering the locale and his disposition. I have trouble with the notion that he did this alone, however. The logistics and all.

Why don't you just keep your idiotic thoughs to yourself. No one wants to hear your sick theories on the death of a great actor.

Carradine was one of my favorite actors of all time. I watched The Long Riders last night. RIP David Carradine.

Is that available on DVD? I've heard good things about it but I've never seen it.
