A band that successfully mixes Punk and Metal

Torche actually mixed Punk and Metal with a positive outcome. They have the short, fast punk feel with the low end of doom metal, with the vocals lying somewhere in between.

If you like Pelican, you might like these guys. But I have a feeling no one on TRF is aware of Pelican, maybe.

REFUSED - SHAPE OF PUNK TO COME

http://www.burgerbeer.org/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/theshapeofpunktocome.jpeg

I usually dislike Punk, and in a big, awful way too. I never understood the desire for bands to sound terrible and/or uninteresting, uninspired or uninventive. And, that's the definition I usually attribute to this genre. But, this band, this album is the opposite of all those things...making the genre title - Punk hard to brand these guys with. This recording is one of the most interesting titles of the 90's. If, after listening to this, you have to ask yourself why groups like Green Day and The Offpsring were so mad-crazy-popular, but The Refused weren't, then maybe you don't know how the game is played. Death to nazi, pig, corporate controllers. lol.

Here's a slew of songs from the one and only album I know from these dudes.

Refused and Pig Destroyer are probably the best references in here... both amazing bands... and to NS101, Refused released to other records (This Just Might Be the Truth and Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent), but unfortunately they lacked the punch of Shape.

Another great group for this thread is Every Time I Die. Their fusion of metal, punk and southern flavors is just ridiculous... oh and Keith Buckley is the f***ing man!
