JA and RW should take it over again.

They could do another Anderson Bruford Wakeman and Howe. (actually was a really good tour with Tony Levin or Jeff Berlin on Bass!!)

But it will never happen.

ABWR!! ;). Bruford refired though. RAWW. OK fine...Just call it Yes.

I don't regard Yes as Yes anymore.

But that is me...I keep thinking that Toto is touring with a bizarre tribute band!

some bands can get away with swaping members for me. such as Toto. They swapped vocalists all the time and bass players.

Spock's Beard is another....swapping Vocalists and i still buy every record.

Yes is not that band. No Jon Anderson no Dice. or even Wakeman and now Squire.

Yup to me Yes has disbanded.

Mick

I don't believe Yes needed Anderson to be Yes. Drama is a Yes album to my ears, more so than the two that followed.

But the last couple of albums, the lineup, the music, the tours: ouch.

Drama has ok songs with a poor vocalist, IMO. The newer stuff. whoever it is sounds like he's on constant auto-tune.

just awful.

And Anderson was more then willing to come back in......the rest said nope.

idiots.

Mick

I like Drama. 5/10, but not offensively bad like Union or [insert any post Union album here].

I tried The Ladder, Magnification and the rest, but aside from Keys, it all felt hollow. Too much looking back, or picking the worst elements of the respective current scene. The Ladder sounded like a Yes remix album to my ears!

I love Drama. The rest nah. No thank you. Agree about Keys though. It had potential to be amazing but Wakeman left then Squire made a solo album called Open Your Eyes.

Don't get me wrong...it's STILL good music..but it feels like a damn tribute act more than anything else! I saw them with Benoit David a few years back, and it wasn't great...then I just saw this tour last week, and it's "ok".

Some bands can get by with a replacement lead singer. (and like someone mentioned above...Toto is one of them...but each singer had their own identity, and you identify that guy with those tunes...although Joseph Williams handled the older stuff rather well) But Yes isn't a band that you can get away with a different singer...neither is Styx, or Led Zeppelin, or Queen....

Pink Floyd was different without Roger Waters...but they handled his stuff rather well...but when I saw Roger solo those few times you KNOW who the main "voice" of the band really was!

Yes should probably go off respectably into the sunset after this tour is over.....(Steve Howe should do a solo tour)

I've enjoyed fake yes every time I've seen them. I'd even call the 2nd time I saw them a great concert. but I'll be skipping the toto tour - no squire (so now howe and white are the only reasons to see them) and the set is like a shitty greatest hits record. you'd think they'd want to pull out a deep cut to try and prove that they still "got it" but they're not even pretending anymore.

I saw Yes on this Toto tour, and I do think the setlist is not good. I was disappointed that they did not play To Be Over, a song that was rumored to be in the set before the tour started. I enjoyed seeing them, but I definitely would not have gone if I had seen them before or if they did not play a show that was 15 minutes from my house like they did this tour.

it's just totally lazy! the only people still going to yes concerts are the "diehards" anyway, so why does the band feel like they have to play the same songs every tour? this set is like if rush went on tour and did tom sawyer, yyz, limelight, tsor, closer to the heart, overture/temples and nothing else

Felt lucky that I got to see that the first time around, and other than the Union Tour, the ABWH tour is STILL my favorite Yes concert! Bruford is "officially retired"....so that version will never exist again, sadly!

Deep cut "highlight" was Tempus Fugit.... A. Because Downes was there and B. Because Anderson didn't sing on it anyway...so no MAJOR loss....

The best "Yes" track I saw was Siberian Khatru because Howe just ripped that ending solo to shreds!

I went to that show mainly because I never got to see Toto live, and thought this was a great opportunity...it was a "dual headline" show, so both bands played for 90 minutes...

They're a shell of what they once were (and if not, much less than that)?

Hmmm...

They're disgracing two (and if not, more) crucial members to the band by continuing without them? They're classless and without respect to the men who made the band so great to begin with?

...Oh come one, that's hogwash.

What's most infuriating is that Jon Anderson has been well for many years and he really wants to come back. And Rick Wakeman even said Anderson not being there is the only thing keeping him from rejoining the band. Anderson, Wakeman, Howe, and White would be a fine representation of Yes because Squire said to go on without him. But replacing 3/5 of the band? They're a f***ing cover band at that point. And they aren't some project run by one mastermind like King Crimson. That's why KC isn't playing casinos

I prefer Toto at this point.

But remove the three odd bodies and bring back Wakeman and Anderson, and I would be thrilled!

Then I would be like "Toto who?"

My problem with that statement is they are two bands that are unlikely compatriots... I was amazed when I heard they were touring...and while I love both band's music...it's a totally different "head" for me when I listen to them...Yes is prog...Toto is rock (and borderline pop in some cases) with a heavy musician/groove kind of feel to it. Usually when I listen to Toto, I'm either coming off of a Steely Dan kind of brain, or going into one... I can't remember a time when I pulled a Toto album out right after a Yes album, except if they were released the same day, and I had them both in my car at the same time....Toto is Toto...and what was Yes is Yes....

Anyway....if RICK Wakeman and Jon Anderson were doing something "Yes related" then I'd be thrilled! I'm going to see Jon Anderson and John Luc Ponty in October (I think that's when) and hoping that they do some old Yes stuff...interested to hear Ponty's take on things....

But I'm on the "Yes isn't yes without Jon boat" ...I've seen them twice without him, and it's JUST not the same..I've seen Jon solo, and that's more Yes than what I saw last week....

I made the comparison based solely on who I would go the concert most excitedly to see. I would probably head to the bar when Yes play and just enjoy Toto.

If Wakeman and Anderson returned, Toto would be an awesome to bonus haha!

And I agree with what you say, but I love how two very different bands share a lineup.

But Toto are not touring with the real Yes.

Anderson/Stolt's The Invention of Knowledge is stunning. A contender for album of the year & the best Yes-related offering since Magnification.

A beautiful, sweeping, human album.

Really? I had no idea Anderson was releasing new music...how is his voice?

Excellent! I have a lot to catch up on with Yes. I hope to complete my studio album collection this year and then look into side projects (honestly not the hugest fan of Rick Wakeman's solo work...).

I agree about Rick. Six Wives was good but the rest...? I did buy and see the "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" album/tour but I haven't listen to the album since the 70's.

Chris Squire's Fish Out of Water is excellent.

Astonishingly good. So clear, still angelic. And far far better than it was on Anderson/Ponty.

This is the closest thing to a classic sounding Yes album I've heard in years. It SOARS.
