treeduck
Manny pounded Cheato for 12 rounds, all Tony had was concrete chin and a lot of heart and will. He was too slow, too crude, with a laughably wide open defence. Manny is superhuman though!
wrekinboy
QUOTE (treeduck @ Nov 14 2010, 09:51 AM)Manny pounded Cheato for 12 rounds, all Tony had was concrete chin and a lot of heart and will. He was too slow, too crude, with a laughably wide open defence. Manny is superhuman though! From flyweight to light-middle, beating a top-rated guy 4 inches taller, heavier, with longer reach etc. is just incredible, particularly as his speed and power was almost the same in the last part of the fight as in the beginning. The only way to beat him would seem to be if you have huge, huge punching power and can land it, or you are as skilful and elusive as Mayweather (maybe we'll never know unfortunately). Next will be: 1. Mayweather (if the fight can be made) 2. Williams/Martinez winner for the middleweight title 3. Mosley (if he parts with Golden Boy) 4. Marquez (probably unlikely unless Manny fights at 144 or below) 5. Cotto (rematch is not popular after the bad beating last time) 6. Chavez jnr (top rank fighter but Arum would be on trial for murder after the fight ) 7. Tim Bradley/Devon Alexander winner (not well known enough) 8. Andre Berto (see above)

Preserved for 9 years in formaldehyde then later sold on ebay for $346 to an Arab racing horse guru and eaten by his pet poodle Rhondo three days later... treeduck
Froch totally outboxed Abraham! 12 rounds to 0 - a total shut-out. A masterclass!
treeduck
Excellent fight between Marquez and Katsidis, Marquez was down in round 3, recovered and was just too smart, too talented, too sharp for Kat, the ref stopped it a little early though. Pacman third fight next? Berto KO'd a chump (Hernandez) who hardly anyone knew of, typical of his career. His best wins are over, Journeymen (Estrada, Rivera) , smaller guys with either no skill (Urango) or no power (Forbes), gatekeeper types who lose when they face anyone half decent (Collazo, Quintana), or complete unknowns (Rodrigez, Hernandez). thesweetscience
QUOTE (treeduck @ Nov 27 2010, 07:47 PM) Froch totally outboxed Abraham! 12 rounds to 0 - a total shut-out. A masterclass! Froch put on a clinic. Abraham clearly can't handle the step up in weight class. It has neutralized his best attribute, his punching power. Yeah, I had a feeling that would be the case, even after he KO'd Taylor in his first super six match, Taylor was ruined by Pavlik and Froch and he was a career Middleweight like Abraham. AA is only 5'9" which unless you're Marvin Hagler is small for middleweight and Froch is a big super-middleweight. The semi-final match-ups are set Ward v Abraham Froch v Glen Johnson I think Abraham will lose to Ward too but maybe he'll do something different, I doubt it though. Froch v Johnson will be a better fight.

treeduck
Great fight last night between Khan and Maidana...FOTY candidate... Khan proved he has good power and a good chin too...plus he's super fast and a great mover and combination puncher... Maidana proved he is a warrior and a hard-punching, never-say-die problem for anyone at 140... http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/2639/34398318.jpg http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/4715/84580969.jpg http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/3804/19456366.jpg http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/8562/60553026.jpg http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/2647/60758400.jpg http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/1947/43789741.jpg http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/1251/12872581.jpg http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/3259/28025510.jpg http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/7015/73921632.jpg http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/8571/12548841.jpg http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/4254/47974207.jpg http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/3377/52458238.jpg http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/9453/55289952.jpg http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/5930/67280513.jpg http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/9316/48464701.jpg http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/7633/25544099.jpg http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/6631/23453441.jpg

laughedatbytime
So, what is your opinion on this latest trend among boxers? QUOTE HINCKLEY, Minn. - If you think Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards isn't serious about his boxing career, consider his lifestyle change. Edwards is practicing abstinence, abiding by a boxing theory that intercourse affects fluidity in the ring. His plan was to not change even with a victory in his pro boxing debut Friday night against former amateur kickboxer T.J. Gibson in front of about 2,000 at Grand Casino. Edwards, a 6-foot-5, 258-pound defensive end, trained for years for a moment that might place his football career on hold. As part of his preparation, Edwards' abstinence spans almost two months, and he'll continue the plan throughout his two-bout contract with Midwest Sports Council and RDS Company. Edwards was the main event in a six-fight card that included St. Paul native Cerresso Fort, who was scheduled to fight a six-round match against Tim Taggart. "I've looked up to guys like Bernard Hopkins, Roy Jones, Floyd Mayweather, guys who are the greatest to do it - they said they didn't do it," Edwards said, referring to his abstinence. "The guys who did it got knocked out. I'm going to follow those guys."

I think Edwards can have a nice career beating heavyweight journeymen, but if he ever fights anyone who's any good he'll get beat and will probably get hurt. That's the difference between a top boxer and a tough guy athlete.
