PuppetKing2112
It's 12:30 AM. I have school tomorrow. But that doesn't stop me from staying up all night (if I have to, hopefully not) to get tickets. In the meantime I'm bumping this amazing Toronto bootleg from 2006, which I'm appreciating a lot more now that I know the then-unreleased In Rainbows songs by heart. "House of Cards" is absolutely breathtaking. I must be crazy or something.
PuppetKing2112
I love this band so much. I'm barely awake right now, but I'm hanging in there. I will get floor tickets one way or another. NP: Karma Police from the Warrington 2000 boot. This band > life.

PuppetKing2112
Yes you do. That's the day before my show. You'd best be staying up right now to get tickets. Pyramid Song is dope.

Rush!
QUOTE (Huck @ Apr 8 2008, 08:56 AM) Radiohead are a great band. I agree a lot of their music is depressing but they are certainly nothing like Coldplay, who are just a softer paler imitation. I really don't think Radiohead are all that depressing. Some of their songs do have a bleak mood to them, but I wouldn't consider them that depressing. If you want depressing, listen to the album in my avatar (The Cure's Faith), and also Pornography by them.
Steevo
The Best Of is out soon, disappointing there are no surprises within the extra. However the DVD sounds much more interesting. http://www.amazon.com/Best-Radiohead/dp/B0...pd_bxgy_m_img_b
RUSHMUSE
QUOTE (Kudzu @ Apr 4 2008, 11:00 PM) Wow. That is actually a really, really good best-of album. I'm not a big fan of greatest hits collections, but I've gotta say that's pretty impressive, though if EMI had access to In Rainbows, they could replace about half of that early stuff with newer, better material. Even still, I'm impressed. Pleasantly surprised to see virtually all of my favorite 1993-2003 Radiohead songs on there..."Let Down", "Fake Plastic Trees", "How to Disappear Completely", "There There", "Idioteque", "I Might Be Wrong", "No Surprises"...sorry not to see "Optimistic" but that's the only conspicuous absence to me. POTENTIAL SPOILER FOR SOME: oops forgot about spoilers PM me if you want to know about the Houston show. I DO NOT have the set list memorized. Steevo
I didnt like it as much as Kid A, and that was challenging enough. They kind of lost it for me by Amnesiac, although I can understand why they wanted to get as far away from OK as much as possible. I think now theres been some time there will be more balance. Hope so anyway.

I just don't get it this album, Kid A was much better Amnesiac doesn't have the same kind of "album flow" dynamic as Kid A because it's basically leftovers from the same sessions, but: "Pyramid Song," "You and Whose Army," "I Might be Wrong," "Knives Out," "Dollars and Cents," some of their best songs right there. For those of us who shelled out the $80 for the In Rainbows discbox, you know what song is awesome? "Down is the New Up."

I'd say "Last Flowers", "Bangers & Mash", and "4 Minute Warning" are better songs than "Down is the New Up", but honestly, the whole thing is just fantastic. 2007 was such a good year for music, my head's still spinning. Mandalorian Hunter
Bangers & Mash is my favourite from disk 2. I find myself enjoying those from disk 2 more than some songs on the first disk though.

I can see that. You really have to spend some time with it, with headphones preferably, there are some subtleties on there that are absolutely beautiful. Nah, still doesn't touch OK. I gotta disagree. Both of them rank highly for me, but I almost never feel the impulse to listen to the likes of "Airbag", "Exit Music (For a Film)", "Fitter Happier" ( ), or "The Tourist" over and over again (which is not to say they aren't good songs!), while the only track on In Rainbows that has never gotten that treatment is "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi", and that's only because I like the Live at Ether Festival bootleg version of "Arpeggi" better and listen to that repeatedly instead. ReRushed
Yes. I like the songs on In Rainbows better than OK Computer. Better melodies, better riffs...they're just better. OK Computer is like Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. You keep hearing about how brilliant they are and when you listen to them you realize each respective band has released more "enjoyable" music. That's why I like In Rainbows and Revolver better.
Soni
In Rainbows is great but it needed time to grow on me, Hail To The Thief (my favorite) was more direct for me.
