Slaine you have he most frighteningly wonderful ghost stories....have you told them all? unsure.gif

I'm afriad that's all of the real stories I have, all that remains are a couple of minor experiences where we live now.

It appears that we have at least two ghosts at our house. One of them walks up and down the path outside the living room window, occasionally looking in. This can be very disconcerting while using the computer as it located next to the window. Also, until the furniture was rearranged, it could be distracting while watching television. The other one we know about for certain stands at the bottom of thestairs and watches you go up at night.

Neither of these two ghosts actually do anything, they just watch. In addition, they appear to be seasonal - arriving around hallowe'en and staying until about March.

The only real interaction I've had with something in this house happened about 18 months ago. It was midweek and a couple of friends had come round that evening. As usual, we were sat talking and listening to music well after Jess had gone to bed. It was past midnight when I told the one friend who had not yet left that I ought to get to be as I had work in the morning. However, as usually happens, we carried on talking until I felt a gentle but firm push in the small of my back. It was as if someone was saying "Oi, get to bed!".

Need I say that there was no-one apart from my friend in downstairs in the house (Jess and the children were all in bed) so I have no idea who was responsible.

Damn Slain that is amazing! Keep them coming.

A co-worker of mine who was hired around the same time as me died a few years ago after having her first child. She suffered some massive heart attack.

Some admin staff in this office say they've "seen her" in the empty cubicle late after hours. I've never confrimed it and it wasn't talked about much.

Not me but a friend of mine told me the story about a old man that lived alone across the street from him. And he could always see him watching my friend and his brother play in there front yard when they were kids. He would watch and wave at them from a secound store window of his house. Well the old man died in his bedroom which is the window they would usually see him at. Shortly after my buddy remembers looking across the street on a bright sunny day at the window of the house and seeing the curtain being pulled back but no one there.... unsure.gif

What a great thread, excellent stories from everyone.

A couple quick incidents to mention, both happening within a day of each other ... not really ghost stories, but unnerving in their own way. Both involve my late father.

Like Brutal Truth, my dad also had terminal cancer. In honoring his wishes to spend his final weeks at home, my step mother and I took turns watching and taking care of him. Near the very end, he was so weak that he slept most of the time, but would mumble things occasionally. One night he was in his recliner, alsleep, and I was sitting on the floor next to his chair. Then he mumbled something and I leaned over to hear what he was saying, and it was somthing like 'Watch the dryer' ... he kept saying it over and over, then drifted back to sleep. I didn't think anything of it, between being so ill and all the meds he was on, I thought maybe he was just dreaming. He passed away later that week. The day before his funeral, I was visiting my mother, and a call came for me, from my stepmother ... she was crying and said I needed to come back home, that there had been a small fire. When I got there, I asked what happened, and she said she had been doing laundry, and at some point she smelled something burning. When she went into the cellar, found the dryer had caught on fire ... we later determined that a clogged lint trap was the cause. I did not put 'two and two' together ('Watch the dryer') until after the funeral when we were all sitting around and talking ... I didn't tell anyone what my father had said a few days earlier because I didn't think they'd believe me .... but I knew. A LESSON TO ALL .... LISTEN TO YOUR PARENTS!!

I'll save the other one for tomorrow. It was the eeriest thing that ever happened to me.

These are from the Sedona desert. You can clearly see the energy being stand up in the ancient rock formation, as he seems to protect the sacred ground upon which he rises from.

QUOTE (Indica @ Dec 11 2004, 01:41 AM)
This isn't exactly a Ghost story but it may be I guess. It's just something that happened that I never could explain.

When I was around 10 yrs old I stayed over at my cousins house one night. They always said there was a Ghost in the house because the lady that lived there before them died in the house. As a kid I was a little scared but didn't really believe in ghosts or anything like that. Anyway, all the adults went to sleep and me and my cousin was still awake in his room. I had to go to the bathroom and after I was finished taking a wizz I saw a lightweight plastic ball that was a little bigger in diameter than a softball, you all know the type of ball I am talking about, they weigh hardly nothing and you can't really throw them that far because they are so light.

It was a really old house, probably build in the early 1900's and it was huge, it was a two story and I was in upstares. There was a laundry shoot in the bathroom that led straight down to the bathroom by the washing machine. I got the idea of opening the wooden laundry shoot door and dropping the ball down into the basement. I have no idea why, I guess I was just being a kid.

Then I walked out of the bathroom and started walking back to the room, for some reason I can't explain, I stopped in my tracks and turned around and walked back into the bathroom. Although I didn't see the ball come back up through the shoot, when I walked in the room the ball was in the bathroom and it was wobbling back and forth like it just dropped on the floor and wasn't finished rolling yet.

I then brought the ball back in the room and told my cousin about it, we were both scared and didn't sleep all night. The next day I was so curious that I tried to figure out a logical way this could happen. I went into the basement and looked everywhere to see if there might have been two balls that looked the same and possibly I kicked the 2nd ball as I was walking out of the bathroom. I didn't find another ball, my cousin said they only had one ball, so that was out. I couldn't think of any other logical reason this could happen. They I did an experiment in the basement by throwing the ball up and seeing if I could possibly throw it hard enough to go up to the upstares and open the wooded laundry shoot door. No way in hell, not even Nolan Ryan could have thrown that light ball hard enough to open that heavy wooded door and go into the bathroom.

To this day I have no idea what happened that night, and equally as strange is the reason I even turned around and walked back into the bathroom. What made me do that? I have no idea.

Other than seeing myself this is the only real weird thing that happened in my life that I have no clue what the hell it was. Everything else in my 36 years I can explain.

I want to tell everyone else what happened to me when I saw myself from the ceiling as I was dreaming, I heard of this happening before but I want to explain exactly what happened in another post and see what everyone thinks. It's way freaky in many ways and I want to see everyones comments about it.

That's astral projection. According from what I read, you tend to see yourself as you are 'floating' away. So, this is the first part. Most people can not tap into that 'other' power. It's like Deja Vu. Others have people floating off the ground. There are people that can see ghosts quite easily. For me, I've had a few things that weren't quite right in my surroundings. Also, I feel many times, there is someone watching me. I believe in ghosts & spirits. Trust me, there was one time were someone was scratched mysteriously when there was no one by her. The unexplained...

Wow. I can't believe I never noticed this thread before. I have a few stories...they might be interesting they might not be - after what I've already read in this thread....

When I was 15 my grandfather passed away. It was (obviously) a very upsetting time for myself and my family. He was up at our family home in Tuftonboro (hereafter referred to as The Farm) with my father and my uncle, hunting (it was hunting season and they wanted to get one more round in before the end). He loved that house and the land more than anyone in the family - more than my mom, sister & I combined. The house was given to my grandmother by her late uncle when he passed away, as she was the only one in the family who cared for him. I've seen his ghost once, and felt his presence there many times.

They had come in from the woods at dusk, and while my uncle went to make dinner, my grandfather laid down on the couch in the living room to take a nap (as was usual for him). He passed away of an aneurism in his sleep, though the paramedics kept his heart going until they reached the hospital. When we got the phone call, my mom, grandmother, and aunt rushed up there, leaving us kids at home, worrying and wondering. It was rather hard on us all, because none of us got to see him, to tell him we loved him, or say goodbye before he went.

This happened near Thanksgiving in November of 1992. That New Years Eve my father was scheduled to play First Night in Concord, so we (my mom, dad, sister & I) decided to go up to The Farm after the festivities in Concord. On January 1st, probably around 11:00 at night, I was laying in my bed in the North Dorm (the way the upper level of the house was set up was there was a South and North Dormitories, the South having 4 beds, and the North having 3) and I had just put my book away and had shut off the light. I was about to take my glasses off when I noticed a glow at the end of my bed. It was my grandfather, standing there, smiling at me. He waved to me, and faded out. I freaked out. I was 15 and had never in my life seen a ghost. I jumped out of bed, and ran down the stairs, through the living room and into the kitchen. As I entered the kitchen, I stopped, and stared. My mother was standing very still by the kitchen sink, holding a glass of water in her hand, almost like she was in a trance, but she had a sad smile on her face and tears in her eyes. I walked over and put my hand on her arm, and she started, and looked over to me. She said (I may be paraphrasing a little bit here),

"I had just gotten my water, and was standing here, when I felt this warm glow surround me. I felt like I was being hugged. I said, 'Papa?' and I suddenly felt suffused with warmth, and a greenish glow around me got bright and then vanished."

I still believe to this day that when my grandfather showed himself to me that night, that he was there to say goodbye to me, because I hadn't been able to. And when he was with me, my mother felt his spirit and was drawn in by its warmth. These instances happened at the exact same time that night.

That was my friendly ghost story...

I got a good one but it's not my story...It's fom my mother. I was 7 years old & at home.

So, my mother & father would go bowling every wed. On one particular bowling night my mother's sister came to there to speak to her. They went off to the side. My Aunt Ann says, "Rosemary, I have to go away for a very long time. I need you to take care of Edie (Ann's daughter)."

My Aunt Ann not being the best parent, my mother agreed. My mother turned to talk with my father but remembered to say goodbye to her sister. She was gone. My mother didn't think anything of it.

About 15 minutes later, my mother got paged over the intercom. She was told that her sister had passed away about 15 minutes ago. My mother was astonished as she just spoke to her.

My Aunt Ann died of a heart attack & was in the hospital an hour before my mother had talked to her. The other weird thing was, no one remembers my Aunt Ann being at the bowling alley that night....just my mother.
