My double vinyl of Phoenix Rising arrived today, and it'sd bloody gorgeous looking. I fired on the cd, it KICKS ASS!!!! Will watch the documentary and 30 minute live piece later.

A must for all MkIV lovers.

Of course the stores here in the u.s. have their heads up their f-n ass and i can't find this anywhere . If i wanted the new Justin Asshat or JaRule album, i would have no problem . I saw them last week and they were the best i have seen them since the days of Blackmore

Great band. Like Rush they should've been in the Hall of Shame years ago. Grew up with their classic MKII lineup and listened to all their late 60s and 70s stuff all the time. Saw them on the Perfect Strangers tour and they were the shit.

NICE!! Why 3 cds? Outtakes? New songs (that would be awesome)? Alternate takes?

Yes I like this one a good comeback album for the band at the time. it was a huge big deal too back in 1984, I think most people didn't believe they'd ever reform.

I think the House of Blue Light is underrated too...

And Slaves and masters too! You better believe it!!

The Darker Than Blue info sheet says, "Remaster, 1984 interview disc, plus third disc of odds and ends including the withdrawn jazz instrumentals. Due July 2011".

Agreed. JLT just screams Rainbow to me though.

It's not just that, you have the 81-83 Rainbow triumvirate of Blackmore, Glover and Turner reunited...

True, but Blackmore and Glover are at least equally equated with MkII Purple. Turner's voice (which I love) is inextricably linked (for me) with DTC, SBTE and BOOS.

I should search for a Rainbow thread around here. Another band (like Purple actually) of which I enjoy all eras.

I was just listening to Purpendicular yesterday. I like the Morse era too.

I'm a huge Sabbath fan. Oddly enough, I hate Born Again.

Turner also has that album with Yngwie which was pretty good...

I like Born Again these days, though I hated it when it came out, I hated the cover and thought it sounded nothing like Sabbath. These days I just think it's a pretty good album, kind of Deep Sabbath or Black Purple...

Duck! I could be watching Ian and the boys right now. I'm only like four miles from the Pavilion.

Saving my money and energy for Blue Oyster Cult and Rush tomorrow!

I've seen Satriani and Deep Purple together before.

I will live!

"Born Again" ROCKS!

Since this is a Deep Purple thread I must also mention that "Seventh Star" with Glenn Hughes on vocals is killer too!!!

"Seventh Star" is now in a double cd pack.

So is the "Eternal Idol" with one disc Tony Martin, the other of the late great Ray Gillen.

A must have.

Thanks bud!

Yes! Wendy is going and we are taking the girls to the fair for rides and games.

Then Zoe and Skylar are going to see Blue Oyster Cult live with us!! At least they both love "Godzilla" thanks to Guitar Hero!

Wendy and I will be at Rush. The girls saw them last year. Unfortunately Rush doesn't do anything for them.

So Pat, Tommy Bolin. Do you love him? Yes or No.

Of course, I bought the new Teaser Deluxe album the other week, a fine new version of the album!

And Come Taste the Band is an excellent Purple album...

And there's his work with Billy Cobham and the James Gang...

And him tragically dying young kind of makes him the Randy Rhoads of the 70s, only he may be better, totally different styles though...

Now he rocks in heaven, with a growing superstar line-up...
