Raging Bull, Robert De Niro. Don't know if anyone mentioned it yet but it's definitely a black and white classic.

Well although the majority of the film is black and white there are some colour segments which is why I didn't mention it...

I think it's DeNiro's best film performance, if I had to pick one...

Peter Sellers was also set to play Major T.J. King Kong but broke his ankle or leg, so Kubrick cast Slim Pickens instead. I read that Kubrick wanted Sellers to connect all the locations in the film - The War Room, The Army Base and The B-52.

George C. Scott was also brilliant.

There are many memorable lines:

"Mr. President, I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed. But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops. Uh, depending on the breaks."

"You're gonna have to answer to the Coca-Cola company."

"Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff."

Gosh, there are so many.

Can I recommend two lighter films?

The Apartment with Jack Lemmon

Great flick! Really cutting edge for the time, and very funny. Who knew Shirley McLaine was so hot? confused13.gif

I would also recommend Roman Holiday with perhaps the most beautiful woman ever, in her most adorable role, Audrey Hepburn. drool1.gif

The Apartment with Jack Lemmon and The Odd Couple with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.

While The Odd Couple is not a black and white film.... I still must take my opportunity to chime in and say it's one of the funniest movies ever made.

When Jack Lemmon is trying to clear his throat in the diner, is one of the hardest laughs I've ever had to recover from. rofl3.gif

I used to have that sound byte linked in my sig. I have to try and get that going again.

If you like comedies - some of the old Martin and Lewis films are sensational. My favorite in particular, is Scared Stiff. Their best one, imo.

Can't go wrong with an Abbot and Costello flick.

Especially the monster flicks yes.gif

You know what sucks, I had all of those Abbot and Costello "Meet " Mummy, Invisible Man,Frankenstein, Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hide flicks on vhs sold them at a garage sale because wanted to upgrade and purchase on dvd.

Problem with that hard to find, only luck was Meet The Invisible Man.

Kick myself for getting rid of vhs copies!!! rage.gif
