When I was growing up I was heavily into Star Trek: The Next Generation. I even subscribed to Star Trek: The Official Fanclub Magazine and went to a convention in Boston. Up until around my junior year of high school, I still read the ST: TNG original novels, and I have a bunch of other Star Trek-related books in my personal library.

Oh God, the Trekkies have landed..........

My poor forum.

I'm going to say this only once, and then I will shut my pie-hole: Star Trek sucks. Thank you, carry on.

I don't think I'm truly a trekkie but I have seen all of the original series many times (my older bros were addicted to it). It took time but the show grew on me. I never got into the spin-offs.

A show that had Leonard Nimoy in it that I really loved was a documentary-type thang called "IN SEARCH OF...". I think it was out sometime in the late 70s. It wasn't really a sci-fi program but it did tackle such topics as UFOs & aliens. Other 'investigations' they did included: ghosts & hauntings, Knights of the Round Table, Bigfoot, Loch Ness, Noah's Ark, etc. I really miss that show.

OMG!!!! Every time i mention this show to people they just stare at me like i'm making it up. THANK YOU FOR KNOWING ABOUT IT!!! laugh.gif I used to LOVE that show. I was younger when i watched it Ricky, so you must have seen it in syndication or something cuz i belive i'm older than you. I remember seeing it with my dad, so that was before I was seven. Do you know of its availability on DVD or anything? I would love to watch it again. Yes... the purple haired women were hot. Even my very young mind could comprehend that. drool1.gif

Not EXTREMELY well-liked by Trek fans, but it was a masterfully done show!

A REAL Diamond in the rough. Cancelled due to 9/11, This show could've been GREAT with a few more good actors. I really wish I could get this one on DVD.

I too used to have the board game AND i remember loving the show when I was a kid, but I honestly can't remember anything about it now - I guess I was too young.

I also used to love the original Battlestar Galactica when I was a kid. yes.gif

I still maintain that Star Trek: TNG is the greatest television show ever made. A classic...

You're 3 years younger than me actually NM. I think it was originally screened about '70/'71, but when I saw it it was about '73 and this would make me about 10/11. It was shown again in the UK in the mid '80s too. The model was the SHADO INTERCEPTOR and was made by Dinky Toys (die cast metal), about 8" long from what I can remember, and a button on it made the torpedo fire.

Amazon sell it as a full series on DVD trink39.gif

Great picture there Slaine -- that was one of the best series -- my top favorie of all time -- shame it had to end sad.gif

I grew up on Buck Rodgers -- Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek -- with all the technicial stuff they do now -- they just don't seem to get the Chemistry those shows had -- Babylon 5 has been the only one IMO

One I wanted to mention, but forgot to.

Earth 2

Even though it only lasted one season, I thought it had a great story concept. Like 'wagon train of the future.' And the series started out with such a great villain as played by Tim Curry.

My favourite SciFi cult show was The Champions.

I saw a repeat only last week. I think Alexandra Bastedo was my first crush.
