This Week In Rock History

Foreigner claimed the top spot on the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart on January 19, 1985 with “I Want To Know What Love Is.” Here are the Top 30 ROCK TRACKS from this week 39 years ago back in 1985...

Forget that noise. The real story is Giuffria's 9 weeks on the charts, jumping up two spots from 5 to 3!

I was enjoying the list, but then my eyes fell on Can't Fight This Feeling, and they started to....

The Kinks had a top 10 song in 1985?

"Standing in the middle of nowhere
Wondering how to begin
Lost between tomorrow and yesterday
Between now and then

And now we're back where we started
Here we go round again
Day after day I get up and I say
I better do it again"

Great tune!

I just gave it a listen. I've heard the song before but it's been a long time. Good tune.

I haven't heard it in ages.

The Kinks had a nice revival with 1979's Low Budget, 1982's Destroyer (Paranoia), and 1983's Come Dancing & Don't Forget to Dance.  1985's Do It Again made it a six year run of success, which ain't too bad for a 60s band

Oh my god -- what a blast of nostalgia! I can hear all those songs again, coming through the radio in my boom box. Thanks, man.

In January 1985 I was 14. Would I go back and do it again? Hell no, but the music, the music . . .
