Airplane by far for me. "After Bathing at Baxters" is a must have for 60's psychedelic rock.

Good lord - its AWESOME. Priest at the best (or at least darn near it),. I first got to see Priest on the Ram It Down tour and that show is, even now, the 2nbd best show I have ever seen (surpassed only by Rush on the VT tour). This is every bit as good as I remember the Ram it Down show as being - maybe better. Thank goodness this was filmed. Just jaw dropping.

Zappa this ain't, lol Mick Well...if you consider the fact seven years before, they had made Lost Paradise, and now a few short years later they were playing on mainstream radio with pop metal hits...this felt like very left field. But as the band admitted themselves, they were getting bored of metal. Nick came along leaps and bounds as a vocalist, and the hooks were really strong. My issue with the album is it feels over long. My version also has bonus tracks. There is little filler, it's just a lot of lotness. This album went down well, next album Host...that's where fans really wondered where the hell their doom metal faves went. It is a really interesting thing to listen to their albums in order. It doesn't have to be Zappa to be divisive lol. Going from extreme metal leanings to synth pop was never going to please anyone, even with all the evolution in between. I'm definitely grateful they followed their muse. Like In Flames, I honestly think they would not have the respect and the fascinating history if all they did was stick to repeating Draconian Times sound over and over.
bluefox4000
Paradise Lost-Host (9/10) This one to me seems a bigger leap intoa new era. One second was synthy but still contained lots of live drums and instruments and still had the organic band feel. this has a band feel too but it's a full on trip-hop trance band. I'd heard this prior when i couldn't stand ANY doom or harsh vocals in metal. and i took too it right away. and coming back to it i love it more. it's not perfect. some songs have ambient build ups where i just wish they'd sing already but minor quibble i love this record. Mick Around the same time, The Gathering also were exploring electronics. How To Measure A Planet? is HIGHLY recommended, if you want to try another terrific goth metal band shift gears. If this is more Depeche Mode, TGs evolution embraced Radiohead.

FOA is a fun wacky excursion. Savours is almost an apology after some backlash. it's safe. Haven't played it since release day honestly. Mick I’ll probably come back to it once or twice, but more than safe to me it reeked of a lack of new ideas. I’ve heard them do everything on there before better. And worse in places, certainly. None of it was outright bad, but that’s not very interesting either. Shame to see them and Blink not managing to find anything more interesting to do at this age, meanwhile their offspring have found great artistic success recently leaning into unexplored aspects of their sound. Paramore went post punk, FOB got expansive and cinematic, and Panic wrote a love letter to the 70s and 80s.
yyz305
How time has changed my perception of theses songs. I like them all. However, upon release, I gravitated to the 'bigger songs' Dark Necessities, Goodbye Angels, Go Robot, etc Now my favourites are: Dreams Of A Samurai Feasting On The Flowers We Turn Red Detroit This Ticonderoga
