Aren’t *as* good. That’s my only argument.

Based on the recommendation of my buddy I tried out some stuff that I would not normally have tried.  As I have mentioned, he likes black, death and thrash metal (which I can't stand) so I knew this might not go well.  But hey, I have suggested some stuff to him with mixed results - but at least he tried my recommendations.  For example, I had suggested The Hu and he really liked them.  I also suggested Rush and he tried MP - thought it was boring.  No accounting for taste.  Since he tried my recommendations I figured the least I could do was try some more of his.   First up:

Disillusion  - Ayam

He calls this Prog Metal.  I am not certain what to call it but I could only get through 2 songs and bits and pieces of some others.  Terrible album.  Next up:

Sylvaine - Nova

Since this was black metal I doubted I would like it and boy was I correct.  Got though about 2 songs again and bits of some others.  Just another terrible album.

Defiantly not to my taste with either album.

Pearl Jam- Ten (Redux)

I'm falling in love with these songs all over again. It feels bizarre hearing the clarity, I'm taking in so many details I've overlooked before.

I still favour the original, I love that raw, muddy sound of the early nineties grunge scene. But this, a version of the album I have largely ignored since its release, is a great way to appreciate this album.

Behemoth- The Satanist

This album moves me like few others. This did for me in the 2010s what Blood Mountain and The Blackening did for me in the 2000s.

So far, this decade hasn't had an album of impact yet on this level.

Have listened to all of the different versions of Fleetwood Mac?

Do you mean all of the different eras, from Peter Green forward?

Or various different versions of the self-titled album ‘Fleetwood Mac’?

(and in their discography there were two different albums that were both self titled- one with Buckingham and Nicks, and one that pre-dated them as well).

Since Friday:
Millington - Brass Emo, Vol. 1 (EP)
The Greetings - Party City (EP)
Camping In Alaska - Please Be Nice
Daisy Grenade - Sophomore Slump (EP)
Daisy Grenade - Cult Classic (EP)
The Offspring - The Offspring
The Offspring - Ignition
Millington - Millington (Vinyl)
Millington - Beatdown Generation (EP) (Vinyl)

If there's one unfamiliar band in this post that people here may like, it's The Greetings. They're a bluesy rock band from Upstate NY. I'm seeing them in August, opening for two bands that sound nothing like them, one of which is Daisy Grenade. The other is my second favorite band, Young Culture.

Pearl Jam- Pearl Jam

I love this album. "It's nothing original". Oh f**k right off, sometimes it's just about being a collection of great songs.

Comus -- First Utterance (1971)

Acoustic, psychedelic folk ... with twisted, macabre lyrics touching on rape, necrophilia, etc.

I should check this out. Not for the lyrical content. But ‘acoustic, psychedelic folk’ is right in my wheelhouse.
