Have you heard Machine Head before?

Once or twice I think. I seem to recall just thinking they were very heavy, lol.

They are. But they're also melodic and proggy at the same time.

Taylor Swift- Midnights

I think this is my favourite album of the year. It has been a really soothing album for me, it came out just when I needed it. Took a while to really win me over, but I think it's another brilliant album from her. I know several non-Swift fans who love this album.

Give The Blackening a listen. It's their best album and one of the best metal albums of the last 25 years. If you don't dig that then they're not for you.

I still think Bloodstones and Diamonds is an easier introduction.

Spock's Beard - V (first time listen)

This was brilliant!!! Just, ugh, exactly what you want out of a prog album. It progs so hard it makes ELP looks like posers! And with fantastic melodies and songwriting fundamentals as well!

YAAAAAS!!!!!!!  ANNNND......if you like V you'll like the other morse era albums.  Snow is not a good representation of them in the Neal era.  when you started there i did the hardest face palm ever, lol.

The Beard is mighty!!!!!! also check out X for a great post Neal album.

Devin Townsend - Lightwork

It's a definite grower album. Some fantastic songs, some definite meh songs like Heartbreaker. I think it may settle as a middle of the road record above Physicist.

Taylor Swift- Midnights

Midnights feels very much like an outpouring of stress and paranoia, continuing the folk vibes of Folklore/Evermore with the pop edge of reputation.

I think this is an exquisite album. It wasn't immediate, but what felt like a letdown at first now comes across as nuanced and emotionally gratifying. Like a collection of songs the writer needed to write, regardless of commercial performance.

The kind of blunt honesty on display here is exactly why the record has exploded in a way no Swift album has since reputation. I can't quite explain how much her writing affects me, but I'm emotionally overwhelmed and grateful this is out.

Spock's Beard-X (10/10)

My fav post neal Spock's album.  Their Drummer Nick D'virgilio had taken over vocal duties in 03 (again creepily like Geesus, lol)  This is as good as any Neal era record, IMO ad absolutly the best with Nick singing.

Savatage- Edge Of Thorns

My go to Savatage album at the moment. Every time I come back to this band, I love them more and more. Oddly, my first Savatage album, Streets, the one that started my love for them, has settled to bottom three. That isn't to slate the album, it's just this band is incredible and I'm deeply grateful to have discovered them.

Spock's Beard-Brief Nocturnes And Dreamless Sleep (9/10)

Ted Leonard took over for a departing Nick.  Thus making this Spock's and Enchants love child album.

i will say. SB has had three distinct era's and they've al been great.  very rare that happens with multiple frontman changes

You'll come around to it. It's really a great album, I think right now it's style is grating to you.
