I was reading an article the other day about the late great guitarist Leslie West who passed in December last year.

This lead to me having a plough through his non-Mountain material yesterday and today -

West's first solo album was really the prototype for Mountain (who were named after the album title).

Felix Pappalardi plays on it but sadly has no vocal contribution.

The sound at times is clearly like that massive guitar/hammond sound that would typify Mountain and many of the tracks would be played live by Mountain.

West formed West Bruce and Laing just after Mountain split for the first time.

This is a decent album and I particularly like the tracks where Jack Bruce does the lead vocals.

West's second solo album from 1975 is half originals and half cover versions.

Mick Jagger plays rhythm guitar on one track. A decent album again but a bit 'of its time'.

1976's The Leslie West Band album features Mick Jones on guitar. A year later he would form Foriegner.

Another solid album
