I've always thought these two had some interesting sonic and temporal parallels. Now we compare their records!

Super tough choices - in a couple of cases, it's "just barely" - I love Crime of the Century, but Dark Side has to take that one. And Fool's Overture is in my top ten songs of all time, but Animals is pretty much a joy straight through.

It was tough to vote against Supertramp. COTC and EITQM were very important albums for me when I was a teenager. DSOTM and COTC are both still top 25 in my collection. Pink Floyd was a band that was easy to listen to but wasn't important when it came to my life lessons. Cool Topic!

An interesting set of options as there are merits for both bands.

In the first poll I have chosen DSOTM and WYWH.

Much as I like both the Supertramp albums, the two Floyd ones are just stronger.

In the second poll I have chosen Animals and Breakfast In America.

Animals is a masterpiece. I was never that fussed on The Wall whereas I love Breakfast In America which contains some cracking songs.

In the third poll much as I like Supertramp, the vote has to go to Floyd.

A bit of challenging poll to say the least.

The only thing I can do is rank them in order of my favs...

1: Supertramp - Crime of the Century

2: Pink Floyd - Animals

3: Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

4: Supertramp - Breakfast in America

5: Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

6: Pink Floyd - The Wall

7: Supertramp - Even in the Quietest Moments

8: Supertramp - Crisis, What Crisis?

Yeah, this was me, down the line.

I felt like I was talking the SAT again . . .

I might put Breakfast at the top of that list.

Two great bands! With a bit more gravitas to their work, Floyd ultimately wins out, I think, with Dark Side, Animals and the Wall nudging the three Supertramp albums. Crisis beats Wish You Were Here.
