Alchemy (live) is tops for me followed by the studio albums in this order

1. Making Movies

2. Love Over Gold

3. On Every Street

4. Brothers In Arms

5. Dire Straits

6. Communique

i love this band but for me your number 3 and 6.......swap places.

Communique seems to be slighted by  lot of fans and i don't get it damn it:banghead::laugh:

Communique simply faces tough competition from those other albums.  This, from wiki, surprised me:

"...the only Dire Straits album not represented on the compilation Private Investigations: The Best of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler."

Portobello Belle, Once Upon A Time In The West, Lady Writer.  How are those left off?  I think a Portobello live version may be on the best of, if so, understandable.  But no Lady Writer?

Lately I've been obsessing on YouTube covers of that track, and there are some killers.

Hey in all honesty. this is a fantastic live album. (live in the studio?)

One of the best, was the first thing I heard of JP and loved it!!

Tried to listen to the studio versions up to that point and felt they were inferior!

Trivium.

1. The Sin and the Sentence

2. What The Dead Men say

3. Shogun

4  In The Court of the Dragon

5.  Silence In the Snow

6. Ascendancy

7. In Wave

8. The Crusade

9. Ember to Inferno

10. Vengeance Falls.

I think it's clear which era is my fav. With only Shogon from earlier Trivium getting a top 5. This band took 7 albums to truly Iron the kinks out While Ascendancy is held dear it's not my fav but i'm a newer fan.

I love the groove they have now.

Ascendancy...the band were roughly still teens.

That fact still blows my mind!

Hard to explain what an impact that album had. I think it took til 2017 for the band to truly live up to it
