Here we go ladies and gentlemen .. The FINAL ROUND ..

You will have ONE vote and that vote will go to the guitarist you feel is the greatest electric guitarist of all time ..

THE GOD OF THE ELECTRIC GUITAR

First of all, the semi finals was a lot of fun - thank you all for voting ..

When all the ballots were counted, we had one tie in the third group : Jimmy Page caught David Gilmour - both legends ended up deadlocked with 18 votes each ..

Both will advance to the finals, making it an even TEN choices ..

We will have Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday to vote .... Monday at midnight EST ( Tues morn ) the poll will close and the winner will be crowned ..

Thank you all once again for voting and making this a lot of fun !!

Go for it, and may the best guitarist win

I must say though, it's difficult for me to think of a TON of other guitarists who belong here ahead of any of these guys. A very good list if I do say so myself. Edited by Entre_Perpetuo

For me the best mix of rhythm, lead, and writing is Jimmy Page. For lead I might go with david or Eddie and rhythm I might go with Alex or Steve but ultimate combo is jimmy.

With this list it's a questions of what kinds of things do you like. Do you like monster riffs? Great taste and tone? Impact, innovation and influence? Fretboard pyrotechnics? Originality? A mastery of styles? Song writing? Lyrical solos? Blues sensibility? Catchy melodies? And so on.

Most important:

What happens in the case of a tiebreak?

Good question !!

If there is a tie for the top spot, I think there should be a run off ... Take the two ( or however many ) and have a tie breaker poll ...

I had to give a vote to Hendrix. He is not my fave guitarist(it's a draw between Blackmore and SRV), but I feel that he is truly the KING of rock guitar.

It’s just electric guitar, not rock guitar.

Not any longer.

Clearly greatest means favorite so i choose alex.

It does seem to me that alex has been the most consistent the longest.

It also seems to this GOD list was

Geezer Or Dead... not enough younger players.

Do you think any younger players would've gotten this deep in the tourney? If so, which young guns are you talking about?

I'm not surprised at all with the love Hendrix has received thus far ..

And it is early ... but to see Eddie start off this slow is a little surprising

I hope that a) the disparity in votes doesn't discourage members from voting and b) I'm wondering if, as the deadline approaches, some will change their vote

I'll wait until the last minute to vote to see how the voting works out. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm open to bribery. :kisshug:

This will spawn backroom politics like Survivor Island.

I could make a case for at least half of those on any given day.

It's not early in voting. Not really. We're probably looking at 40-50% of votes.

Some stuff...

a) some switcheroo might happen

b) future voters might give pity votes to some players

c) some future voters might toss votes to someone who they'd like to challenge Jimi (but who they wouldn't have voted for if the numbers weren't strongly in Jimi's favor)

d) some or all of the above

Very surprised how much Hendrix is dominating, just goes to show you some talent is acknowledged regardless of taste.

e) Van Halen fans might have the tendency to wake up in the afternoon, and will log on and vote after sobering up

"...after sobering up...." Does that actually happen for VH fans?

Certainly leaning towards Jimi or SRV, but such a short career compared to the others.

Drunk VH fans might vote in the wrong circle and give Iommi some votes after all !
