Entre_Perpetuo Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Well, despite the likelihood that the Stones destroy Styx in this poll, I couldn't resist. Btw...I like Styx a lot better in general. 2
Narps Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Styx as crazy as that may sound. Not a Stones fan at all... 4
J2112YYZ Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Stones. My dad's favorite band. I grew up listening to all of his Stones vinyls. Never heard a Styx album in my life and have never had the desire to. 2

I don't understand their appeal either, but they are well liked on here, and I won't be surprised if they take the lead in the poll. In fact, I'm expecting them to.

I'm just indifferent when I hear a Styx song. I don't mind if I hear something from them but the songs I do know have never grabbed me.
Segue Myles Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 I enjoy Styx but Kansas were similar in all the right ways and better too. 3
bluefox4000 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 I will take Styx because aside from Deyoung.......i really enjoy them. i flat out do not get the appeal of the Stones. Mick 1
ReRushed Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 One can argue that at their best the Rolling Stones are the best. 3

Mystic Slipperman Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Sigh. Stones every day and twice on Sundays. 1

You don't think an objective case can be made for the Rolling Stones being the greatest rock band? I do. And I'm a Beatles fanatic. 2
Bigbobby10 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Never liked the Stones Styx I loved just about all their discography (excluding Kilroy and Cornerstone) 3

Use a band with talent and I might think you have a point.
Huge Ackman Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Suite Madame Blue - Miss America... among my very favorite tunes from any artist. They would be on my "deserted island" must-have list of tunes and Equinox.near the top of the list of favorite records.. Styx any day over the Stones... http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Styx%2001July2016%20Detroit/0701162144a_zpssi4e7ga3.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Styx%2001July2016%20Detroit/0701162144_zpsmxm2b1hw.jpg 1

MickI get not liking the Rolling Stones or any band for that matter. Personally, I think the Stones became a parody of themselves after Exile on Main Street. Total cruise control. But from 1964 to 1972 they defined, along with several of their peers, what a rock and roll band was. The songs. The longevity. The innovation. The popularity. It still ripples through the music world to this day. 3
