Cygnus X-1 Vinyl

Serious question. Why would I want these? Are they different from the tunes on ATFK and Hemispheres?

Is it just for the collectible value? To be a completist? Nah.

I asked myself the same question, and my answer was " because i can"

But are they just the album tracks in a different package?

Pretty much. It wasn't expensive though ($20 for me). I mean unless you have to get it from one of these terrible ebay leaches. It's a nice to have, more than a need to have.

I'm assuming these are the same masters as the recent 2015 vinyl reissues? (Haven't opened mine yet.)

Not super enthused about the liner notes but it's kind of neat to have both songs officially ordered like this. (Even though there was no intention at the start to have two pieces linked like that even though that's how it eventually played out.) Hugh Syme has been disappointing me a bit lately with his digital work and it doesn't look like he spent a lot of time on these. Would have liked them to use live tracks for this. A gatefold would have been great too since both of the albums these came from were gatefolds originally but I'm sure the label wanted to do this on the cheap.

I think The Garden picture disc is my favorite Record Store Day release or maybe the T-shirt. (The Caravan 7 inch red/white vinyl is right up there too I guess.)

Does anybody know where i can find the t shirt for sale?

Did you say you bought one of those on ebay for some insane price?

no where in the song does it say that the rocinante isn't a cork.

Song calls it a Ship so it's probably a corkship. . Like when a bottle of wine is romantically interested in another bottle of wine, there's usually a corkship that follows.. haha no :P

Audiophile coworker of mine picked one of these up, along with 23 other records this last weekend. Stood in line from 5:30 on in the rain for the chance to grab some of these record store day only deals. That degree of devotion isn't for me but I still think the release is very cool as a collectible. There can't be too many different vinyl versions of Hemi. I won't buy them but I like knowing they're there.

BTW, his favorite pick up is a 2 or 3 LP live album recorded by Iggy Pop last year. Was raving about it.

My plan was to wake up at about 6:30 but I decided I didn't feel like waiting on a line that wasn't going to move for a few hours so I got there at the end of the line when they opened instead. Weather wasn't that great either, but the rain held off where I was.

Thanks for sharing pictures of it. I also got one, but it is still sealed and I wont open it (since I got both songs already on original pressing A Farewell To Kings and Hemispheres). But do you mind showing me the labels as well? I would very much appreciate that!

Why did Syme have to ruin an otherwise great photo of the black hole with a freakin' cork??? IT MAKES NO SENSE!

In vino veritas... :16ton:

Like every other record I have bought, I opened mine and played it on both turntables. What is the point of not opening it? It will never be that valuable anyway.

What turntable are you getting?

Well I open most of my vinyl records but I see no point in opening this one, because I have both the new 2015 remastered pressings and original pressings of both A Farewell To Kings and Hemispheres. So then I rather keep it sealed for now.

And the turntable Im hoping I will get, if no one else is buying it before I can get to the store in 28 days (it takes a whole day to drive there, and I will be driving that way in 28 days on my way to a festival) is a used Dual 505-3 in almost mint condition.
