I think Off the Ground is underrated. I find it a very consistent and pleasant album. Of course, there are some cringe worthy moments! It wouldn't be a McCartney album without them! Scratch your head, what the hell was he thinking moments. And on Off the Ground, almost all those moments are with the lyrics. Paul, please put more effort into your lyrics! "Biker Like an Icon" is terrible! "Golden Earth Girl" is a lost opportunity, such a nice melody distracted by awful lyrics.

 

And the two Elvis Costello collaborations are fantastic. Do a proper album, guys.

 

Anyway, Paul is Paul and Off the Ground is Paul. A very good album that could have be great.

He is a very influential bass player too....Geddy mentions him as a very creative bass player....on top at 75 :codger: he is still rocking the stages all over North and South America ....I wish Rush could do that again!!!

Just going thru McCartney's post-Beatles music, hopscotching through the 70s and a few collections.

Enjoying much of what I've heard, but yeah, the lyrics can be terribly distracting at times.

Some great tunes though.

So far the earworms, for better or worse, have been: Mrs Vandebilt, Let Me Roll It, Junk, Too Much Rain and This One (great pop tune).

Looking forward to checking out 80s Paul next!

McCartney is still excited about recording and touring and having a musical life.

1/3 of Rush is not.

London Town ( Here's to you Rich, RIP ). My buddy played this album all the time so I listed it in his honor.

 

London Town is underrated. It isn't his greatest, but it is stronger than it gets credit for being. Yea, it is a little soft around the edges, but it has good tunes, for the most part. And Denny Laine's best song is here, Deliver Your Children. And while most folks seem to hate Morse Moose and the Grey Goose, I find it interesting.
