  1. Couldn't even click play... my mind is too corrupted to get past that still frame.
  2. Happy Rush day TRF! All is well in San Antonio. Done working for a couple weeks, save a few basketball games. Gonna get these presents taken care of and spin 2112. (Side note: this post should be #3000, what's up professors!)
  3. Really digging The Hard Sell! Can't wait for Feb 5 and the tour to hit Texas. Coheed :haz:
  4. "Here's where the overlap begins: Even music geeks can get sick of, or embarrassed by, musicians' musicians. We want bands whose virtuosic playing and odd time signatures we can enjoy without cringing, and that we can share with others. Rush fits the bill. Their songs are "pop" enough, and their lyrics strong enough, to share with — or, anyway, force on — our friends and family, without sacrificing the quality of the playing. Songs like "Tom Sawyer" and "Limelight" give us our fix of 7/4 time without losing the sense of a good song. My four-year-old son, bless him, begs for Rush in the car. (Number two on his playlist list is Porcupine Tree, a modern prog-rock band with serious non-nerd crossover appeal. What a great kid.) Nerds and greasers have another thing in common: We like to rock out. Rush gives both groups that precious outlet." Great stuff!
  5. Did you guys see this article from NPR that Rush just posted on Facebook? It's great! http://www.npr.org/blogs/therecord/2012/12/18/167554155/loving-rush-with-all-my-heart-and-brain
  6. The clock seems cool, but not $60-worth of cool, and I really disliked the book. I'll pass.
  7. It's all good, the days of the rockin listening parties seem to be over anyway :(
  8. It's gotta be between that and The Anarchist. Just can't pick one!!!
  9. Yeah, that's pretty much Rolling Stone. f**k em, I love it, and that's what matters to me.
  10. Seeing these guys live was a f*ckin trip. Didn't know what to think when they walked out, but my f**k did they jam. Nothing spectacular, but fun music. Hoping this new album turn out really well so they don't fade into kind of a novelty act kind of role.
  11. There really are no words... I'm not a father and don't plan on being one any time soon, but the kids I've taught this year have just given me a little glimpse of how amazing children can be. Just being a sub, I've worked in every grade level, but these elementary kids (especially this 3rd grade) have been such an incredible influence on my life. The idea that someone could do this... I can't even fathom it. It was so hard to keep that professional demeanor around them on Friday (I read the first report on my lunch break) that I couldn't even begin to imagine being the father of one of those kids. And, just being real, there's a handful who are my favorites (mostly because of attitude and friendliness), and dear Ged, seeing that kid on the way out of the building was almost too much. It's just unimaginable... f**k, I can't explain this. I dunno, been avoiding any conversation about the incident until now and haven't gathered my thoughts. Been running from them. f**k. Seriously, teachers and parents and brothers and sisters, hug your loved ones until they think you're a total weirdo.
  12. Good to hear from you! Have a good one!
  13. http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lbrgniYr111qccg5eo1_500.jpg The Quantum Stealth Invisibility Cloak... The Cryogenic Freezer... The Nuclear Missile. Together they make one master of death.
  14. Both songs are entry level Coheed, they just appease to different listeners. Welcome Home was great, but then it went on rock band and became on over played nuisance. In high school, Coheed was a one hit wonder joke, and I hated it. Because of that, today all i can really enjoy of that song is the chorus. It's the pure melodic Coheed moment that reminds me "Hey, enjoy the story Ken. This is still a Coheed song whether you have bad memories attached to it or not." As for Blood Red.. Well I never liked that one much. I assure you, there are many great songs that surpass Welcome Home, even ignoring it's pedestal. http://youtu.be/ZXCsR6tBE-Q The f*ckin Crowing!!!! This one (for me) is to Co&Ca what Natural Science is to Rush.
  15. Bass is way harder for me, but I also play that less often.
  16. Aside from my trusty Klonopin, I like to drink certain teas: chamomile is the obvious choice, but there are some really good rooibos teas out there that I like a lot more. Also, if there's someone you can call just to bullshit, that can help. And, not that I recommend drinking to self-medicate anxiety, but having a beer is pretty damn calming. But hey, if it gets too bad, try going to a therapist. I've been on Klonopin for a couple of years, and it's really helpful, but nothing like going to a good therapist! CBT worked wonders for me, now I barely ever take the meds :)
  17. I got a blazer today. First time in my life! I own one formal job interview/funeral kind of suit, but this is the first plain blazer. Perhaps it will help end this disgustingly long dry spell :dweez:
  18. I'd miss TSoR the most by far and would be just fine without seeing Working Man again.
  19. Dr. Dre, Jimmy Buffett, John Denver, Bill Withers, Garth Brooks. Can I be on the selection committee now?
  20. Gotta be SW! The man is on a whole new level of genius... like prog's version of Stephen Hawking. Still, it sure would be nice if he gets back into metal long enough for a couple more PorkkyTree albums/tours :haz:
