  1. Excellent news! Can't wait for the album. Surely will be one of the best of 2012.
  2. My facial hair pretty patchy so I usually don't grow it all out too much but I'm doing it now for the hell of it. Will probably get bored of it at some point during the month & shave it all off. Wish it would grow in thicker - I need to go back to shaving every day.
  3. Voices don't have to be technically great or anything for me to dig them. I like any vocals that make me feel good, whether it's a screaming hardcore punk singer, or a growling guttural metal singer. Doesn't matter what the style is, if there are off-pitch notes, whiny, etc. if it sounds good to me I like it. For example I can't listen to Nickelback (not only because I think they're one of the most generic insipid bands out there) but mainly because Chad Kroeger's voice literally sounds like audio distortion to my ears.
  4. I would've enjoyed seeing The Wall live with the big spectacles & everything else attached to it but I just don't have the cash for it. Tickets are way too expensive if you ask me.....
  5. Amazing band. Going to get their new album soon, & I should probably re-visit their debut as well. One of my friends who's a guitarist looks up to Tosin Abasi like you wouldn't believe.
  6. I still have yet to put myself through this abomination of a collaboration record. Will get to it soon.
  7. Link takes you to a dead page - can anyone post a different link to the same article?
  8. Fantastic song, been stuck in my head since the first time I heard it a few months ago.
  9. In a Glass House is a funky album, I dig it. Octopus is probably their best after that.
  10. I don't know what to think about this one, it's weird. I liked it but it definitely seems....there's just something I'm not feeling with it, not making much of a connection with it yet. Definitely greatly prefer Insurgentes as of now.
  11. Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures. Easy Top 3. I'd say the weakest would be Presto and Roll the Bones - they have no balls, no power. S&A sounds good except the drums are too weak, especially the snare & some of the toms. They get buried under the guitars.
  12. It's a good tune and the drummer is playing what's 'right' in order to fit the feel and tempo of the song. I've been meaning to get their album.
  13. I'm feeling Prime Mover - such a positive, uplifting tune.
  14. Ride are pretty cool. I've heard the 'Fall' and 'Today Forever' EPs, their debut album, and 'Going Blank Again' album. The latter would be my favorite. Solid band but I much prefer Slowdive and the archetypical MBV if we're talking shoegaze.
  15. QUOTE (fledgehog @ Sep 27 2011, 01:54 PM) QUOTE (Rush! @ Sep 27 2011, 12:36 PM) Absolute worst / least favorite singles of 2011: Lady Gaga - 'Born This Way', 'The Edge of Glory' say what you want about GaGa's music, her new album is catchier than herpes. Honestly I do think they're catchy - it's mainly because I have to hear both songs all day 5 days per week at my job. It's made me sick to death of hearing them.
  16. Top 5 for me: 1. Animals 2. Wish You Were Here 3. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn 4. The Dark Side of the Moon 5. Meddle
  17. The more I think about The Interdimensional Vortex the more I feel like it went away too quickly; the show didn't last enough. However Gary started the show in 2006 (for those of you who don't know). 2006-2011 is a pretty damn good run if I say so myself. Will always remember the many laughs and great songs / music you've introduced us (and me personally) to over the years Gary.
  18. Jeez didn't realize so many people here despised R.E.M. I love 'em to death, they're a top 5 of all-time band for me. Too bad I thought their latest album was mostly boring but still, all of their albums have something great to offer. The ones talking only about the hits (Stand, Shiny Happy People, Everybody Hurts) etc. are missing out on some wonderful work. I'd honestly consider their peak years to be 1982-1996. When Bill Berry left they definitely lost something in the sound, and Berry was a great lyricist as well. That being said I still do enjoy the rest of their albums post-1996. This is sad for me, I was hoping to see them live and maybe get a couple more albums / compilations. Oh well, they've given their (amazing) share of music over the years. I'll miss 'em for sure.
  19. 1. Echoes 2. Dogs 3. Sheep This could change.
  20. I didn't enjoy the new one (The Suburbs) much at all but it had 4 or 5 solid songs. Neon Bible is my favorite, not a bad tune on there. Funeral is alright. Neighborhood #1 and Rebellion (Lies) are the highlights for me.
  21. I might be considered a Facebook addict. I'm on it frequently and it's usually reading other people's statuses (I'm a bit nosy but I almost never comment), playing games, and chatting with friends. I think it's a great website for its purpose. Google+ is a new one that's supposedly going to be the next big social networking site.
  22. Drugs...They're not good. Even though the cause of her death is currently unexplained. RIP
  23. QUOTE (laughedatbytime @ Jul 5 2011, 02:34 PM) QUOTE (ALifeson85 @ Jul 5 2011, 12:33 PM) Wow. That is all. you forgot the words..."according to the jury." See this is why I think professional judges should make up a jury and not this jury of your peers crap. I don't want my life in the hands of some Joe Blow who just wants to hurry out of there and pick his kid up from soccer practice and doesn't truly care about the verdict. "I gotta get going, just say Not Guilty and get it over with.
