  1. Bastille day Lakeside Park Making memories A Passage to Bangkok Something for nothing Best I can Beneath, between and behind A fountain of Lamneth III - No one at the bridge Finding my way 2112 Working Man Bonus - In the End (love the riff but song goes on slightly too long) Would have loved to include many others from the era because I don't dislike any really but this is prob my top choice (at the moment anyway).
  2. Got into them in early 2014. I've got all their vinyls aside from their last two since they haven't had the treatment or reissue yet. Royal Scam is my personal favorite. Aja is my favourite but probably because it's the only one I have on vinyl and I've came to them via one of the compilation albums and I've gradually added their albums over the years. Still have a couple (like Katy Lied) on cassette/tape! Just need a tape player to play them again....
  3. Refuse to vote only because I have albums by both and like them equally. No 'I like them equally' option. However, I only have Tesla's 1st 2 albums and Cinderella's Long Hard Winter.
  4. Hair metal is really great fun! Only recently came off my binging of Ratt and Dokken. I've started paying more attention to Dokken lately. They were really a good band. Back For The Attack is a GREAT album. Every time I hear Mr. Scary I repeat it for hours...just a great album and it's so easy to listen too. Tooth and Nail is my fave by them
  5. Well that was not my experience. I loved the film having not seen Firefly. And then caught up with the short-lived series afterwards. Bit of a travesty that the series never continued.
  6. Ok - remove Neurotica if the 12 limit is sacrosant! Didn't add them up properly in the edit whilst moving the track list around.
  7. Something like:- Dreamline SuperConductor Driven Ghost of a Chance Cold Fire Alien shore Animate Half the world Nobody's Hero Double Agent Stick it out Red Tide (Bonus song - Neurotica) Yes, I like Counterparts as it shows from the song collection. The other albums I find a bit mediocre from Rush but all having some standout tracks that I really like. There were a number of other borderline tracks like maybe Test For Echo, Show Don't Tell and Bravado. Maybe others but the fact that I'm not sure of which ones says it all. Personally, I love Ghost of a Chance and Superconductor and I don't know why these tracks aren't giving more love but maybe it's just me and my dodgy preferences! I know Ghost of a Chance was on one of the live DVDs as a bonus track so it obviously was considered a reasonable track by the band. I get the feeling I'm the only one in the world who likes Neurotica. I find the rest of the album full of good ideas that weren't quite implemented fully or polished enough. And I find the track roll the bones very bland and don't know why it's given as much 'love' (well, liked) as it is - because it's the title track maybe? But i thought Counterparts was a bit of a return to form. And anyway, as the famous (in the UK) football manager, Brian Clough, said when dealing with disputes with his players:- paraphrased "We can talk about it for twenty minutes and then we will decide that I am right."!! :‑J
  8. My wife liked Analog Kid when she heard it after lots of other Rush songs but always said Geddy's voice put here off the rest of the stuff. But her friend, a Japanese lady, loves them. She is grade 8 on the piano and my wife doesn't play any instruments. Read into what you like but I'd venture it's probably been a marketing or 'getting people's attention' thing. The more popular bands/artists (with either/both sex) tend to be marketed well or get a wave or publicity for some reason (Beatles, Elvis etc) so many get to know about them. And as Rush pointed out in the '..lighted stage...' doc, they didn't do the image thing very well.
  9. We're working our way through Agents of Shield
  10. Grace under Pressure right? That was in my 'current' top 5 recently but played it to death so it's having a breather. Love that album.
  11. You said 'current':- In no particular order... Counterparts Clockwork Angels 2112 Permanent Waves A Caress of Steel
  12. 1992 - Henry's Dream by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
  13. "..Learning that we're only immortal For a limited time" or "Suddenly you were gone..." - which was the 1st thing I thought when my mother died a decade or so ago. And also what I 1st thought the first time I heard the news after the 7th Jan last year. Simple but sums it up.
  14. (1991) Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey
  15. Kill the King - Rainbow, Megadeth and Masters of Reality. Great songs by all of them imo. Got them added to Bruce Dickinson's Rock show many years ago as some kind of listener 3-song-link suggestion.
  16. Afterimage and Bastille Day. Trying to learn them for open mic :-o (online of course!)
  17. I have a soft spot for this album. Love Killers, Prodigal Son and Wrathchild to name a few. Yes, up against the 2 albums beside it it might seem weak but it's still got a lot of good stuff!
  18. Was searching for some King's X stuff and found this thread in my results. Thought I'd add my list and if it revives the discussion then good but if not then so be it. NB:- I heard the 1st album when it first came out and was a fan straight away. Here in the UK, the Kerrang mag rightly rated the album very highly and I had to check it out. Suffice to say, I loved it and it's remained my favourite. I guess it might have been different if I heard the albums in a different order. Here goes:- 1. Out of the Silent Planet 2. Dogman 2= Tapehead 3 Gretchen goes to Nebraska 4. Black like Sunday - Finished vies for one of my favourites KX tunes! 4= Ogre Tones 4.= XV 5. Please come home Mr Bulbous 5=Ear Candy 6. Faith Hope Love 7. King's X 8. Manic Moonlight To be honest, I don't dislike any album although I can't remember Manic Moonlight (apart from the song Believe which I like a lot) so I'm rating it low purely on that reason! I'll dig it out and maybe I'll revise my list afterwards. I know Doug Pinnick has said that they changed the sound from Dogman onwards to ensure the bass was more to the front in the mix which is why it sounds a bit heavier and grungier than King's X that preceded it. But to me, it was the band getting back on track with some great stuff after the slightly disappointing eponymous album. But I know Gretchen is a big fave of many and I love that too and I would probably give 5stars to my 1st 4 (ranked to number 3!) The next until Faith.. would be 4 1/2 stars. I found Faith a bit meandering bit still good. But let's face it, they were such a consistent band that I think one could try any album and find something you like.
