  1. Everything there ok? I don't want to talk like I know everything, but you really should go see a real doctor. If you're trying to save some money by seeing a vet, it could cost you more in the long run. Especially if you get real sick, they might just put you to sleep instead of trying to heal you.

  2. Right? When I say I can't afford it, I mean I have $0. They mean, it would be best if I didn't spend this money because one of our four vacations this year we would be stuck at home. I hate hearing things like, "The Beamer is in the shop, looks like I'll have to take the Jag". When I'm thinking, "My Kia is in the driveway, out of gas, looks like I'll have to take the bus". Do you think I am any better off? That's what I mean too. We have NOTHING. No security whatsoever. When I die, they will probably just throw me in the river. Or I'll sit on some mortician's shelf till the end of the world. If our homes burns down, we can just pitch a tent in the middle of the property because there is no way to replace it. I would never have thought I would have fallen so low. My parents worked so hard to give me the best of everything. If it makes anyone feel any better I had to borrow 200 dollars from my son on Monday so my wife and I could make it through the week. My life is like that and worse alot of the time and has been for years. I have what I have. If you look at my house you think "oh he has money". Nope its all I have. If you look at my 14 year old 185,000 miles on it van (our only vehicle) you might think different but its all we have. My wife worries about money 24 7 were I used to not. Now I do too because since I don't work I have too much time to worry about everything and I take full advantage of it... A quick (long) story on the flip side about generosity if I may.. When I was working as a heating and cooling tech for those many years we would go home to home repairing and replacing peoples systems day after day. I met many great people but this one lady in particular touched me in an incredible way when my wife and I needed it most. I was at her house to do a repair on her cooling system. She was 80 ish very thin and frail but had every one of the marbles left God gave her and lived alone. She was sick and knew she probably didn't have long to live but was telling me during a long conversation we had how she has been fortunate in her life and has money and it gives he pleasure help others. She knew from our conversation that my wife and I had major financial problems. The engine had just blown in our only car and we couldn't afford to fix it amongst many other issues. When we finished talking and I finished the job she signed the invoice and handed me a 20 dollar tip. I have gotten many tips and that is considered very generous for a tip and I was so happy. Then she got out her checkbook and was writing a check. I told her that she didn't owe anything because this was all warranty work. She said "don't worry about it". She tore the check out of the checkbook and handed it to me. A 2,000.00 check it was. I told I can't take it and went on and on but she insisted. She said "Kenneth if you don't take this check and fix your car I will be offended". "All I have left is to help others and it would make my day to help you and your family". I took the check and called my wife. I sent my wife over to see her and talk to her about it and she went of course. They had a "moment". My wife was crying when she got home and we did used the money to replace the engine in the car. We sent the lady flowers and a card thanking her for everything but never saw and heard from her again. The most touched I have ever been by anyone. A perfect stranger and her incredible generosity...... :sigh: :boohoo: Apologies if that was to drawn out and boring.....

  3. Haven't seen a thread like this but thought I'd get the ball rolling. Listening to The Enemy Within, my wife,in the kitchen yells, "Haven't heard this before. Are you listening to Men at Work?"

  4. Ducky, based on the girlie pics you've been posting lately, you've been quite the horny little ducker! But we're trying to get away from making pics like this a regular occurrence here. They tend to take over threads. So, could you dial it back some? Plenty of places on the interwebz to see sexy pics of women -- TRF need not be one of them.

  5. In your toast, if you get to give a cool speech, please make sure to thank me for all I do to support you. Something as simple as "I would like to thank Lost in Xanadu for everything he has done. Without him, I really don't know where I'd be. He inspires me to dig deep, challenge myself, and be better at everything I do." Like I said, keep it simple.

  7. I was at the computer playing The Garden for the first time and it was cranked up a little. My wife stood in the doorway until it was done and asked me who it was and I said new Rush. She asked me to burn her a copy. I about fell out of my chair when she said that!!

  11. My wife knows Rush all to well but quick story along the same lines. When I was in high school in the 70's I worked on a paint crew in the summers. We painted schools and would finish one and move on to another and so forth all summer long. Anyway we always had music going while we were working. I was painting in a multipurpose room by myself and had ATWAS going loudly in all its glory on whatever player I had at the time. I can't remember if it was 8 track or cassette or whatever. Anyway Geddy is singing his buns off in all his youthful glory and its echoing all over the place and a guy a little older than me I work with walks in and says "That sounds awful. Are you listening to Janis Joplin"?.....

  12. I have bought 4 versions of the dvds of ESL, GUP, SOH, 2 of R30 and have all the Blu-Rays. Am i going to buy this for the extra blu-rays, which i have seen a portion of it and the upgrade of RIR who was not initially recorded in HD? This box-set is for those who are new to the the band, or don't have the Blu-Rays, a small portion of them or those who don't care to spend 100$ for two disks. Everyone has his reason to buy, it's just that it could be frustrating for those who have everything to pay that for 2 disks. I will get this around 60$ someday or i'll wait to see a separate releases in the future.

  13. Some comical conversations with the kids lately. Older son is girl crazy. Always has been. Can't remember a time when he wasn't chasing some skirt. School started recently and he does nothing but scope out the girls. He's already planned a marriage or two. The other day he asked me if I wanted to be a grandma. "Um, no." Picked him up from school yesterday, asked how his day was, "I met a new girl! She's really cute... but her sister's cuter." Not looking forward to the teenage years with this one. And on top of this, he's already mastered the art of sweet talk. One time he was sort of acting up and I pulled the, "If you keep this up, you're not going to your friend's house" which was promptly followed with, "Mom, the more I hear your voice, the happier I get." AND I FELL FOR IT! Hook, line and sinker! He's eight. I recently re-painted younger son's off-blue bedroom to match older brother's blue bedroom. The original paint color didn't match and it bugged me so I needed to re-paint the room to match and be the same color. Younger son comes in, says, "Why are you painting the walls?" I explained that I wanted a different blue. "But the room's already blue?" He turns, walks out, looks back and shoots me a look that says, "You. Are. Batsh*t."

  14. Are you so damn cheap that you cant support the band when they are doing such a great work? Whats wrong with you...? Unless you're joking, that is a terrible thing to say about someone. My god, what's the matter with you? Im tired of everybody complaining that all Rush stuff is to expensive, its not like its free to make the stuff... I'm sorry, but that is a really f***ing stupid thing to say. He didn't complain that it was too expense (even though it clearly is). He said he's waiting for the inevitable price drop. Not everyone can afford to buy anything they want at whatever price point, regardless of the underlying value of the thing. Furthermore, inthe instant case the only things that need to be paid for are the mastering, mixing, packaging and logistics. The albums were already made and available at a cheaper price individually than he's being asked to pay for it. If you're going to act like a trollish and condescending rich kid, try not be ridiculously ignorant while doing it. If you had any sense of decency you'd offer an apology. :goodone: Well said.....

But you just got a slew of free bootlegs - audio and video. So what if I collect bootlegs? I still buy ALL official stuff with Rush, whatever the price is! Not everyone has the money to do that, Zumbi. Some of us have responsibilities that are more important than padding the already heavily padded bank accounts of Alex, Geddy and Neil.

Then no derailing of topics. Just TRFers having a laugh. We did that once. Actually, twice. It got us in trouble. Ergo, I am now making posts like the one you just responded to. How did you get in trouble? From whom? I knew you were going to ask that... We had our ad banners taken away because of the two girlie threads we had. We're trying to get the banners reinstated. So, no more girlie pics. Now, let's let this thread get back on topic. :) And here's another great idea.....how about we NOT keep reposting the photo that was causing all the trouble?? I don't want to see constant pics of some stupid naked bimbo when trying to read a thread.....

  22. The hubby is familiar with a lot of Rush although he's not a fan. When they come up on shuffle he sometimes asks, "This is that band you like, isn't it?" But he will leave the room if I play too many songs in a row :( I guess the up side is I only need to buy one ticket for each of the shows I go to, so it costs less

  24. My wife hates Dream Theater with a passion, but when it comes to Rush she generally likes their songs. I watched the CA Tour DVD with her and she said "it's amazing how well rounded their show is. There's not a weak spot!!". I thought that was kinda cool of her to say.

The folks in there are nice and have a good time but I can't keep up and it becomes stressful for me. Simple as that.... :D I run out of things to say. In any case, I can clear a Chat Room just by appearing in it. So in the end, I don't bother. :( I've never seen you in chat. And I'd certainly never leave if you came in.

  28. 25 September 2014 Thursday Patagonian Mara The Patagonian mara lives in south and central Argentina, mainly in areas of scrub desert or coarse grassland. It is a rodent resembling a short-eared hare, and is also called the Patagonian hare or Patagonian cavy, but is actually a close relative of the guinea pig. It is one of the few rodents that mate for life, and its social structure is based on this. Pairs will travel everywhere together, with the female in the lead and the male watching out for danger. The third largest rodent in the world, the Patagonian mara is 69 - 75 cm (about 2 feet) long. It can run very fast for its size, up to 45 kilometers (28 miles) per hour for distances over 1 kilometer because it has powerful hind legs. The front legs are adapted for digging their burrows, and have four sharp claws. When fully grown they stand about 2 feet (.61 meters) at the shoulder, are 2.5 feet (.76 of a meter) long, and weigh 35 pounds (15.88 kilograms). In keeping with its strange appearance, the Patagonian mara displays behavioural traits that are very unusual among the rodents. Active during the day, this species spends long periods basking in the sun, either resting on its haunches or with its front limbs folded under its body like a cat. It remains vigilant for predators, however, and when threatened may escape by galloping or stotting, a high-speed form of locomotion involving rapid bounces using all four limbs at once. The mara consumes a variety of vegetation, usually feeding in grass or shrubland during the day, and sheltering in their burrows or amongst dense vegetation at night. http://i.imgur.com/yt2GjmK.jpg

  29. I am 39, I am a musician, and I love hard rock. Why the hell am i just NOW realizing that this band absolutely KICKS ASS!!!!!!!!! I mean WOW!!! I saw RUSH: Live In Cleveland on VH1 and it was like an epiphany. Luckily I DVR'd it and I can NOT stop watching it now. What is the matter with me? Or should I say......what HAS BEEN the matter with me? Why did it take me this long to realize that these guys are amazing musicians? I have been missing out. But it is better late than never. Now I need someone to guide me into the world of RUSH. What CD's do I buy first? What DVD's should I buy first? I love live performances and from what I understand, and from what I have seen, this band is incredible live. So if someone could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

  43. Dear Summer: You disappointed me this year with your unreliable attendance. I can't remember the last time I had to heat the house overnight twice because you played hookie. Your replacement, Autumn, is now here. So far, Autumn has delivered beautiful weather. The forecast is that Autumn will be better than normal and will outperform you. In case you have leftover warmth that you withheld from this part of the country, you can make up for it by influencing my enemy, winter, and moderating this winter's temper(ature).
