Warehouse: Songs and Stories -- Husker Du

This double album loses steam somewhere on the back side (so to speak) but is transcendent early on.

271. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - Black Sabbath (J2112YYZ)

It's been awhile since Sabbath has made an appearance on the list. This album contains some great classic metal songs like the title track, A National Acrobat, Killing Yourself To Live and Spiral Architect. Just a great one from beginning to end and probably my favorite Sabbath album. The title track is my favorite from the band and possibly my favorite metal song ever. I wish I wrote that tune.

273. The '59 Sound - The Gaslight Anthem (ReGorLaTroy)

Picked up this album in 2008 and it restored my faith that rock and roll isn't dead or dying. You have to listen these Jersey rockers...great lyrically and musically.

I want to love this band...I just don't like them but I REALLY try, every once in a while, to convert!

The guys are awesome, i read about them and follow them coz I respect them, as people, sooooo much. But I honestly don't enjoy their music.

ReGor I am mad! Mad mad MAD!

UK were a great band. I even saw them live once. They only had a couple of proper studio albums though. That reminds me, there's no Asia on the list. :P Edited by New_World_Man

Killer blues, live!

But is there enough Yes up there yet? As far as UK goes I believe the studio albums were S/T and Danger Money. I was way into that kind of music in the 70's. I have the Jon Anderson/Vangelis stuff too. Never really dug Asia that much though but I think they were 80's if I'm not mistaken and I had checked out by then... Edited by Narps

One of the albums I have in my queue might have already been posted. Is there a way I can see the whole list without going back through the whole thread? Maybe someone has easy access to it and can send it to me in a pm.

No. You are supposed to remember  or post a bunch of stuff I have never heard of like everyone else. That's why its so easy for me to know mine haven't been posted yet... ;)

Yeah, Narps, a lot of the fans of the seventies progressive bands like Yes, Genesis, ELP etc were apparently spoiled by the high standards set and anything poppy was considered blasphemous. I would say most(at least 75 percent)of Asia's fans were fans who got into them in the eighties and started their serious musical journey(no pun intended) in the eighties(like me). That being said, those fans who aren't prog snobs(I'm not because I like a lot of other kinds of music)who like aor stuff like Journey, Foreigner, Styx etc should have no problem with Asia. Well, that's kind of what I have been doing but I don't think only a few people should get to post the obvious or most well known albums. Ofcourse I know there's several I'll post that hardly anyone will think to post. ;)

Until we reach 500 I try to update my excel file every night. I can do an easy search, no problem. Unfortunately, I'm not home at the moment.

Can you attach files in a PM?

276. Skull Daze - Skull Daze (Lucas)

An incredible new band from Italy that, unfortunately, few know about ... Straightforward 80s style metal ala Guns n Roses, Motorhead and LA Guns ... The singer reminds me of an inspired Klaus Meine ..

Put them in a time machine back to 1987 and they would have been Gods

... with songs like "Dirty Girl" "Queen Obscene" and "Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll" you know what you are getting, but it's even better ..

I love this album, and listen to it everyday

277. Physical Graffiti - Led Zeppelin (New_World_Man)

The first Led Zeppelin album I heard and it is still possibly my favorite. It's a very eclectic album with a lot of different sounds on it from blues rock to folky stuff to experimental/prog sounding stuff to hard and heavy rock. You name it. One of the best double albums ever. A must have for any rock fan.

278 George Thorogood & the Destroyers George Thorogood debut (ru_ready)

Who's at Joes place? He didn't know at the time but as he headed up the stairs he thought the place was jumping as a guitar blasted out blues. little did he know there were 6 people there and on stage was this guy playing as if he was in front of 20,000.

I have always loved that story from the album sleeve story... trying on memory here if it is joe's place... i might have it wrong....

But who can't get high with a burbon, a scotch and chase it all down with a cold beer.... he is following a great set of footprints J.L. Hooker. and the rest of this album rocks, or should i say blues.... Madison Blues that is.....

No idea if this was posted yet....

cheers

Apologies for the simpleton review.
