Segue Myles
I'll pass. But I'd buy it for you, Segue, if I could. It looks great, but I have to be honest, I have enough Beatles stuff. As much as the record company likes to tell otherwise.
Blue J
The only reason I pass on it is because I'm sure I can't afford it. But hey, this thread is for discussing the band, isn't it, DD? We should do some more of that. But I have a meeting in a few minutes... :eyeroll: Blasted work!
ReRushed
I want it for the videos. Finally, the Beatles "promotional films" get a proper release. Christmas is right around the corner...

Rutlefan
Oh yeah, I want. I was going to use my Christmas "stupid" money to get an Autoart 1/18 Alfa Romeo Montreal, or maybe get real stupid and get the Autoart Alfa 33 Stradale (a work of miniature art, but not exactly a bargain), but I think I'll use my stupid allowance on this instead. For the videos. The model(s) will have to wait yet again.

Yeah so we wont flood the album section and I noticed there was no recent thread devoted to them so I figured I'd start one. Oh and btw. Abbey Road favorite album. I Am the Walrus favorite song. Look out for Frank Zappa doing that song.
ReRushed
I enjoy reading TheQuietus.com's Baker's Dozen.I simply love desert island lists. I read Jonathan Higgs of Everything Everything's list and this is what he said about the Beatles. I think he sums up my personal opinion perfectly: "I've always enjoyed the fact that my band doesn't sound the same from song to song, and I think we get that from The Beatles. The Beatles were every type of band for ten years, and then they were nothing, which is probably why they are the most famous band in the world." ReRushed
Here's a quote from the Crimson King himself, Robert Fripp: Robert Fripp on hearing the Beatles Sgt Pepper "When I was 20, I worked at a hotel in a dance orchestra, playing weddings, bar-mitzvahs, dancing, cabaret. I drove home and I was also at college at the time. Then I put on the radio (Radio Luxemburg) and I heard this music. It was terrifying. I had no idea what it was. Then it kept going. Then there was this enormous whine note of strings. Then there was this colossal piano chord. I discovered later that I'd come in half-way through Sgt. Pepper, played continuously. My life was never the same again." Here's a link to a video where Fripp talks about hearing "A Day in the Life". He's basically echoing the above quote. It starts around 3:07: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skBJ4UazDaw

Look to Sirius
Great news! Thanks for the heads up, Dad. Been waiting for this. It's been an obvious hole waiting to be filled. Next stop, Let It Be? One day I'm sure, but probably after Sir Paul passes. I suspect he doesn't want a Let It Be DVD/Bluray out any time soon (or later). http://ultimateclassicrock.com/beatles-1-reissue/

The Cat 3
My sister is a year older than I am. We hatched a plan before Christmas when I was ten and she eleven. I would ask for the "Blue" album (1967-1970) and she would ask for the "Red" album (1962-1966) and we would share them. So, I think Father Christmas had been hitting the eggnog pretty hard and I ended up with the "Red" album and she ended up with the "Blue" album. We're going to see Paul McCartney together next month and were making travel plans to meet there. In the conversation she brought up the Christmas mix up. Now, here's the weird thing. I kind of prefer the earlier Beatles music and she kind of prefers the later stuff. I am firmly convinced it is because of those albums...she agrees. http://www.progarchives.com/progressive_rock_discography_covers/2407/cover_58113082011_r.JPG http://www.progarchives.com/progressive_rock_discography_covers/2407/cover_137113082011_r.JPG Edited September 18, 2015 by ReGorLaTroy

I remember sitting on my bed reading over the record sleeve lyric sheets while listening to the albums. Endless hours of flipping over record sides! As corny as it sounds, these albums are my musical DNA. I really don't think I'm overstating by saying that everything I like (and I like a lot of music) can be traced back to these albums.

I completely know what you mean. I did the very same thing. I would compare the covers of the two, the inside photo...not knowing until later in life where it was, what it meant, etc. Musical DNA is a perfect description.
