  1. It's a Rush forum that hates Rush. Which part of that do you not understand? This is the post of the year. Post of the decade, really. It should be posted on the board header, in bold caps. It should be told to every new member, so there's no misunderstanding about what to expect. I salute you, Tony.
  2. here here, I agree. I think he sounded great for R40. Haters need to just shut up & leave. Hope the guys never see the sh** people post about them! I certainly don't want to cause or start any trouble here but if you have an opinion that is not completely positive or positive at all is that not ok? I love the band as much as anyone and have since 76' but I am gonna call it how I see it. No offense. Just wondering... :) Right on Narps. This forum is fast becoming a dangerous place for anyone who has a brain. Aw, are you frightened Tony? Poor chappie. Objective criticism and trollish posts- do they all look the same to you? If someone posts that Geddy Lee sounds like shit on R40 Live, does that sound like objective criticism? Lol, no buddy. That's some douche trying to get a rise out of this crowd. You're so sensitive about people getting pissed over trollish comments. This is The RUSH Forum, so, if you feel "danger" because there's too many RUSH fanatics on this RUSH forum and some of them get rude with trollish posts, welcome to reality. :hi: Wake up and smell the honeydew. Don't fret about how dangerous this forum is. It'll be okay dear. Admin will make sure of it.

  4. Yes Eel, I agree. Right good post. Don't forget Anthem. He can still bring the banshee.
  5. Sure some flaws can be charming, but in this case, Geddy's vocal struggles and Alex's 'new parts' make the official release a tough listen for me. The general energy level seems low compared to other shows on the tour. Stoked that they really killed it on other nights though! Bummed out? Tough listen? I'm bummed out you and others are such a tough audience. Not at all really, just a little shocked by such hard critics on this site. They didn't film and release their best performance on R40. Aw shit, I didn't notice!! I forgot to scour you tube for a better performance, goddam it. What's wrong with me?? Nothing. Same with the complainers with nothing good to say. Yup, nothing wrong with y'all either. Keep up the good bitching. Y'all help keep this site alive. I bummed-out that you think I have nothing good to say. The band played great on a number of nights on this tour. The officially released Toronto show just wasn't one of them. I'm glad you and others are enjoying it. I'm totally rocking-out to the LA Forum show, and I'm about to check out the other shows recommended on this thread. Sorry, I meant it as "nothing good to say about R40 Live". I guess I thought that was implied enough. :) Neil sounds great on R40 Live. I guess I thought that was implied enough. ;) Haha, no, not complaining about Neil doesn't imply you thought he sounded great. You literally said nothing good about R40 in your thread until now. Sorry I had to force that compliment out of you. Your thread is now stained. ;) Huh? Did you mean to say that I literally said nothing good about R40 "LIVE" in my thread until now? Damn, I noticed I had left out "Live" after posting. I was afraid might easily confuse you and it did, so again, my apologies

  9. There is. Paul and Geddy are Gods!
  10. He clearly is on top of his game. He is playing his instrument better than Alex and Neil at this stage. Clearly. I listened and watched the Blu-ray last night and then I put in R30 to compare and other than the vocals they are much tighter as a band now. You can tell they've improved as musicians over the past 10 years. Geddy has always been a monster of a bass player but he's gotten even better with age. I think when you know it's likely your last shot at something, you're gonna go at it harder Hard to tell if Geddy thinks this is the end, but he's always given us 110%. I don't think he ever half-assed his performances, but I just got a vibe that they had "something to prove" on the R40 tour, the type of spark that most comfortable, money-making arena bands seem to lose after a certain point. maybe it was the surrounding last tour buzz, but R40 felt more like an "event", whereas the other shows I went to felt more like, you know, just rock concerts. I agree. Plus they were playing a lot of classic songs which they haven't done in a long time. Yeah. It's important for them - and they felt this way, I'm sure - to revitalize all of the energy to perform those songs to match or even surpass the energy of from when those songs were first written. To throw off that "old geezer playing the nostalgic stuff" atmosphere of the performance. It's impossible to match it at this point performance or stamina wise for all three of them, but mad props for what they were able to pour into each show this tour. I think one of the main reasons they also sound tighter than R30 is they only had one tour under their belt after taking a long hiatus (98-01). The T4E tour IMO was probably the best I had ever heard them play as a band. They absolutely sizzled on that tour. Everything was clicking. But these last two tours (CA/R40) they had never sounded better as a whole sans the obvious vocal strains due to age. The energy of the last two tours was unmatched. I just loved them to death. It was like seeing them again in the 80's for me personally. Agree agree agree. T4E was probably my favorite tour, and not just because of 2112 in its entirety. Every tour after sort of became a new fav, but I could never shake T4E being so awesome. R40 surpassed it, no question. There's so much I love. Love how all three evolve their parts on songs.. some ever so slightly, some slightly obvious, all wonderful. I can really hear the subtle improvements in Neil's style and delivery on R40, while still remaining true to the songs. Vocally, Geddy was not perfect of course but brought it so well that quibbling over vocals seems like such nitpicking to me. People ripping him for not sounding like it's 1985 seems like mean-spirited heresy! He was better than just good, and he was an absolute beast on the basses. Alex was Alex- on fire. Neil seemed practically flawless, and totally stunning. I do love me this release. The sound is f***ing off the charts for RUSH. I've never gotten so emotional about a RUSH dvd! Simply put, best ever. I believe this was not RUSH's last stand.. that there's more to their story, but, it was almost like there was a King Theoden speech before the tour. "If this is to be our end, then I would have them make such an end, as to be worthy of remembrance!" Ahh, so worthy. I'm not worthy! :rush:
  11. Watched it twice. First time, my head exploded numerous times. I got choked up on several occasions. By the time Working Man was wrapping up, a tear hit my leg. Second time, I got choked up a few times and a tear formed. Twice. Best RUSH concert video ever.
  12. If they don't play their doublenecks, you can't have any Xanadu. How can you have any Xanadu if they don't play their doublenecks?!
  13. Happy :rush: Day everyone! Sorry for the delay to our European friends, and elsewhere. I'm as excited as a little boy on Christmas morning. I've set a course in front of Best Buy, northwest of my own home, headed for the heart of my band, headlong into R40! RUSH on everybody! :yay:
  14. There's loyalty and then there's blind loyalty. ;) Call it what you want, I was there I loved it, and that is all that matters, I'm happy that you loved it. And I can get how the excitement of being at a live show can cloud your memories of it, but unless you and I are listening to different versions of the R40 Xanadu, there's simply no justification that claim that Geddy "nailed the vocals". Whatever, not going to argue with you  Nice call. It would probably be similar to arguing with Data, sans emotion chip. :)
