goose Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Bravo, brava! Scoping Rush shows was the best thing about my summer (besides going to see the band, of course)! Thanks to all who participated. My first scope was Cactus Pete (Calgary, I think?), and I watched almost every scope from that point to the end of the tour. Man, I must have seen the show ten times? That is truly amazing.Quite a phenomenon, and a remarkable leap forward in terms of being able to join together around an event. The last couple of RUSH shows I enjoyed surfing the Periscope Universe looking for "opening acts". Ended up with U2 @ MSG NY, Phish, and a horrible Metallica cover from some guy's garage. Not to mention the various wedding receptions... :D In all seriousness, it was great fun and I appreciate you all for taking time to join in. Let's be sure to thank our families for putting up with it! Now...i anyone can schedule a Periscope feed for a RUSH cover band, I'm in! :P 4
Disembodied Spirit Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Thanks to the scopers.Let's give a big thank you to Periscope who's interest exploded with Press the Monday(May 4) after the Mayweather Pacquiao fight. That fight took place May 2, Rush began their tour May 8, 6 days later. Without that fight and that press, we would have had very, very few of these if any.Periscope reported over 1 million downloads the week AFTER the fight. Right into OUR wheelhouse. We were very lucky. And :cheerleader:  to ALL who filmed, and watched loyally. 7
Boogieman2 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 The first one I got to see was Mystic Rythm's from St. Louis, he had a battery pack and got the whole show. As great as Bob's Girlfriend and Cactus Pete were I gotta give props to Mystic. I was hooked right away. What a tremendous gift to be able to see them so many times on their last (?) tour... and to be able to share the experience with other true fans and good people. It was a great three months. 3
TheBluePhoenix Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I didn’t even know Periscope existed until I saw people mentioning it on this board. I watched bits and pieces of a few shows here and there but I was glued to the last show. I don’t remember his name but one guy scoped the entire show. I’m on the east coast so I was up until 2:30 or so watching and it was great. Thanks to all the Periscopers! 3
Rockosmith Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Huge thanks to Bill for scoping the Forum show. It was really fantastic, amazing view as well. 2
celticsalmon Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Thanks, merci, gracias...! Because so many generous fans ran with the new technology and shared their concert experience, I was able to attend the opening and closing shows! In between I saw the premiere of Losing it- in Toronto. Thank you RUSH scopers for making history but mostly for your generosity! 1
Lorraine Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 All of the Rush scopers ought to come here and take a bow. And we have many resident TRFers who graciously scoped shows or as many songs as they could for us.
Lorraine Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 On second thought, maybe they shouldn't. They'd probably want to :bang bang: us.
Narps Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 The only thing that kind of killed it for me sometimes was the scopers with "vertical videoitous" and didn't their phones sideways. It gave me an appreciation for females in the porn industry You mean you didn't already appreciate them? ;)Ain't done nothing for me...personallyLow T. :D sometimes just
EagleMoon Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I guess I can delete the app off of my phone now. There's something sad about that. 1

ctbadger Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Huge thanks to Bill for scoping the Forum show. It was really fantastic, amazing view as well. Too bad there isn't some way to capture the scope, Bill's recording would have been a great memento of the last show...

Lorraine Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 My husband asked the other day if those scoped shows could have been downloaded and saved since they stayed up for 24 hours?
rocket ignites Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I'll especially remember the early shows from this tour...finding out the setlist changes in real time....Losing It with Ben Mink...great stuff. Thanks to all the scopers and also youtube posters. 1

Thanks to all the scopers and also youtube posters. The Tulsa show was really special as were the Toronto shows. I still remember the excitement just as Geddy was introducing Ben Mink. 2
Boogieman2 Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 My husband asked the other day if those scoped shows could have been downloaded and saved since they stayed up for 24 hours? I did capture a broadcast that was one scoper. If it was more than one or two scopers it was difficult to piece it together. Sometimes I tried and couldn't capture it at all. I don't think there was a way to just download the replays. Also, periscope just started offering 24hr replays on a computer at the end of June (I think). 1
EagleMoon Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 My husband asked the other day if those scoped shows could have been downloaded and saved since they stayed up for 24 hours? Not that I know of. Most of them were grainy and nowhere near as nice quality as regular videos.

Not that I know of. Most of them were grainy and nowhere near as nice quality as regular videos. The scope quality overall was usually quite poor, but the upside and draw was obviously the real-time aspect. You can get great recordings posted on youtube. People capture some amazing footage....and many complete shows. 2
tapehead2 Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 I know that at least for now the whole scoping thing is via a smartphone app but I thought it'd be neat if I could somehow live stream the video feed from my camcorder/camera.... so you guys could see everything I'm framing as it happens. That would be really cool. 3

Lost In Xanadu Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Today we had our golf outing for charity, and seeing we were raising money for charity... we were asked to dress up as our favorite superhero. Of the 150 or so players, only 5 women dressed up... but I dressed up as Bill, who shared his LA concert with so many, including me. I had my matching Rush tee on in honor of him. Thanks again Bill! 1

It was only the 4th show of the tour and Periscope was still being born. I enjoyed sharing that show as much as watching it. Sorry to so many that had to turn their pc's sideways! That was one aspect that was part of the learning curve. Edited August 7, 2015 by Mystic Rythm 2
