I don't think this is it....but of this size and scale "The Evening With" format.

Yes. This is it.

I am blessed I have been able to enjoy their brilliance for the last 34 years.

If this is the last tour, I hope that means that the boys may focus on putting together another album. Or, at the very least, they start to release old concert CDs as Ray tries to suck every cent out of the fans as possible. I'll gladly pay.

The problem with any of this is how perfectionist the guys in the band are. I think they'll be reticent to come out for one-off shows as they won't be in playing shape in their own minds. Also, I don't know if they'll want to release "sub standard" shows as CDs or produce an album on the cheap.

Seeing a few things in the past that sort of came out, (The extra show with Different Stages, and some of the stuff as filler on DVD's) you MIGHT see a box set with some live odds and ends...During an interview several years back when the box set thing was going crazy, I think Alex mentioned that they weren't going to release a box set now because they always felt that the box sets were something for the END of your career...seeing that the R40 DVD set came out with a lot of old odds and ends, I'd be willing to bet that something audio slides out in a few years...Think about it...this year was R40 and a tour...next year a live CD and DVD of the tour...a year or so later, the box set with the old live stuff that they've had in the can for a long time!

Hell they SAY they don't have leftover songs that they haven't released...but any engineer worth his salt ran a tape during sessions, so parts that were being developed were there...and there are alternate mixes that most likely exist. (end of the day...make a cassette for the band to ride home and listen to)

They WERE going to release a live album after Permanent Waves, but decided to do a studio album...so THAT tour probably has tape....they recorded most of the shows on the Test For Echo tour (and said they went over a LOT of live stuff before they settled upon what they DID release) so you know there has to be stuff somewhere in a vault...

I think you're right...and all of that falls under the category of things that they certainly aren't obligated to say publicly, and probably won't. It's entirely their call if or when any of that stuff is released officially. We'll have to wait and see.

But I sure would enjoy the hell out of it, if it does come to fruition.

That's the thing...the "cash cow" is still mooing...so the boys can retire, and there's still something for the future!

I'm just glad that they're still the same three guys, and not like bands like Styx, and Kansas who have like one or two original members, and STILL call the band by the same name...Hell I had a friend that went to see the "Beach Boys" a few years back and it was the JUST lead singer, and an entirely different back up band! (I think Foghat is ONLY the drummer!)

I respect bands like ELP who only call it that when they have the whole band together...when Palmer couldn't do it and still had a commitment to Asia, Cozy Powell did it and they called it Emerson Lake and POWELL...not "ELP"...same when Lake couldn't do it and they had Robert Berry..the band was called "3".

I mean imagine if Alex went out with a bass player, a key player, and a drummer and still called it Rush? That won't work!

As I have said no one wants to see ,

'An Evening of the Hits with Rush at the Boomtown Casino in Shreveport' with 20% of the lights and 20% of the sound.

oh and tomorrow the drummer from Quiet Riot and 3 other guys are playing.

That's it! And that's why I'm not a huge fan of the whole "tribute act" thing...I got into it with someone not too long ago about it, and I'm sorry...you're talented...you play a mean _______, but it's not Rush.... I can handle it with some other bands...but Rush is Rush, and that's about it. In fact I'm going to see Brit Floyd next month, and it's all about the light show!

All that being said... concerts do bring in wheelbarrows full of cash... so for that reason I think that a second leg is a true possibility, plus more concerts in the future.

Keeping my fingers crossed for that...and hoping Hershey is on the list, too! (they HAVE to finish it in Cleveland or heck...even Pittsburgh!)

I think there will be a huge gap after this tour. Then after around 10 years we will get the news that RUSH will be touring once again! By then Neil's daughter will be 15 and will probably like to see her old man on the skin in a real concert setting. So in an ironic turn of events the same person that might be the reason for the plug being pulled out might be pushing the plug right back in!

"Daddy, I want to see you play in a big concert!"

:haz: :rush: :haz:

That's what concert videos are for, my dear.

If it didn't take Neil months to get ready for a tour as it is, it would kill him at 70+ years old.

I never said it was going to be a 3 hour show. For all we know it would only be for 1-1/2 hours with an opening act. And very select cities. But it will happen at some point. Even if its a one night stand in LA.

I wasn't talking about the show, I was just talking about the rehearsals. Just to get READY for shows.

Some of you have no idea what happens to you when you get older, but you will find out one day.

Again, even ten years ago, right before R30, Alex said he didn't know how he was going to do it. And they were only 50/51 back then. They are now over sixty - almost 62/63.

Answer: you keep on rockin! (See picture for evidence!)

That picture is enough to give me nightmares. They look like a bunch of beat up scarecrows.

People like you are the reason rock is a dying genre.

Is this pic supposed to be trying to convince somebody that they should or shouldn't keep going? Seems shouldn't most likely.... :codger: It sort of reminds me of the classic Dangerfield line in Caddyshack when he says "I've never seen dead people smoke before" only in this case its play music....

It's a little bit scary to read the full interview. I know it's his job, but Ray sounds like he'd kill his mom to get another dollar.

He's always been like that. Explains quite a bit actually.

I don't know what someone's age would have to do with whether they should play music or not. I'd say as long as they're enjoying it and people want to go see them, then why not?

Huh. All those threads about Neil's drum set - where'd they go? It's like they disappeared. Were they removed?

I was going to post that GUMP tweeted this at 9:44pm Saturday night (it's now 10:36pm): "@Lornewheaton: You shouldn't always believe everything you hear. Unless it comes from the source. Which it didn't."

But that is cryptic. He says you "shouldn't always believe..." That doesn't mean it ain't happenin'.

Really, man? Everyone has unflattering pics. They look good for their age, and I'm sure don't worry about your opinion.
