RushCanuck
Now they are reporting 70'' inches in Buffalo. And I am bi***** about the rain today. Yes, I heard that that is equal to their entire season's average snowfall- and they've received that much in three days. I have seen pictures of doors being caved in at homes. Hopefully there is some relief in sight.check out this link, there are 10 tweets. I like the beer fridges... of course there has to be a shirtless guy...http://www.theweathe...e-tweets/40282/

Blue J
Now they are reporting 70'' inches in Buffalo. And I am bi***** about the rain today. Yes, I heard that that is equal to their entire season's average snowfall- and they've received that much in three days. Now it's been reported that another three feet could hit in the next day or two. :o I did talk to my cousin last night, in Orchard Park- a little bit south of Buffalo. She said they had about five feet, and we're expecting a band to come through last night or today that would give them another two feet on top of that. She said even compared to what they're accustomed to when it comes to snow there, this is very unusual. She has lived there for almost eighteen years, and has never seen it this bad. None of the kids are going to school, obviously, and there is no mail service getting through. She sent me a bunch of pictures she's taken in the past couple of days, and it's all very picturesque. But having to wade through snow up to the hips just to walk to the grocery store (which she said she has done twice now)...not fun. I think it's amazing enough that there was anybody there at the grocery store anyway (she said there was, in fact, one. One person, working there). Dread Pirate Robert
That Epic, Fickle, Shovel-off-to-Buffalo Snow: An All-Time U.S. Record? November 20th, 2014 I have a special place in my heart for lake effect snow. Living in Sault, Michigan as a teenager is what got me interested in weather and started me down my career path. But it’s hard to compete with what Buffalo, New York gets for lake effect snow. Over six feet of snow fell in some areas on the south side of town in the last 48 hours, most of it in a 24 hour period.http://www.drroyspencer.com/wp-content/uploads/Buffalo-storm-tunnel-to-garage-steve-frost-225x300.jpgJust getting to your garage can be a problem (Steve Frost). The all-time U.S. record for a 24 hour snowfall is 76 inches in Silver Lake, Colorado way back in 1921, and it is possible this was exceeded yesterday. We will have to wait and see what NOAA decides. The reason why Buffalo gets pounded so bad is the shape of Lake Erie…long and narrow, so a cold wind blowing down its length generates a single, intense snow band. You are either in it or out of it. Driving down the road, you can be in sunshine one minute, and in white-out conditions the next. This pair of pictures taken at the same time only 5 miles apart in Buffalo during the storm illustrates the fickle nature of lake effect storms.http://www.drroyspencer.com/wp-content/uploads/Buffalo-storm-5-miles-apart-shannon-clare1-300x300.jpgLake effect snow bands – either you are in or out (Shannon Clare).Imagine your boss says he needs you at work…after all, there’s almost no snow downtown at the office! Yet, your house looks like this.http://www.drroyspencer.com/wp-content/uploads/Buffalo-snow-buried-house-jackie-parker-223x300.jpgBuried house in a Buffalo suburb (Jackie Parker). You open your front door, and are greeted with this:http://www.drroyspencer.com/wp-content/uploads/West-Sececa-NY-snow-Jessica-Marie-225x300.jpgWest Seneca, NY (Jessica Marie).A second round of lake effect snow started again last night — and again with thunder! Thunder in lake effect snow is quite unusual, indicating very strong cloud updrafts from the very cold air mass sitting over the “warm” lake water.Do I need to remind everyone it’s only mid-November?So, when winter gives you too much snow, you just make the best of it:http://www.drroyspencer.com/wp-content/uploads/Buffalo-snow-beer-cooler-unknown.jpg(Anonymous).
