It isn't that easy. There are so many nuanced and subtle differences to each performance. It would actually be tons of work to sync it up and make it work effectively. Geddy's lips and their playing would not always sync up properly with the other performance track so there would be an overreliance om cutaways. I've synced up many things myself and I could imagine an entire concert being a nightmare to make work effectively. I've synced up many things myself and I could imagine an entire concert being a nightmare to make work effectively.They were able to get away with it for the Closer To The Heart live music video by splicing clips from ESL, P/G Tour, and ASOH throughout the song. Things like a different bass/guitar solo each night would have to be put into consideration, and when you only have video from one night and one audio recording from a different night to work from, it can be suicidal to edit the two seamlessly. On Clockwork Angels Tour, the audio of Where's My Thing was actually from the Phoenix show because from videos I've seen and fan accounts, there was a nasty train wreck by Alex at the end of the song. But most of the video portion of that song was from the Dallas show, save for the intro with the close-up shots of Geddy during his bass solo.
