Oh and I had to go back and look .. The Beatles have 18 cover songs within their first 4 albums..what's up with that!

Two albums a year, original singles (A & B sides) not included on those albums (in the UK), touring around the world and a feature film.

No excuse.

So before the Beatles helped change the standard of bands writing their own material, they should have followed that standard? What rock history are you only privy to?

I'm pretty sure doood was messing around, but this is the best rebuttal I've ever read to that kind of Beatles question.

What does "better" mean ?

We're comparing apples and oranges here.

No kidding! "Better" questions are meaningless because it's all subjective, ffs.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Marvin Berry. This is bullshit!

http://electronicwarriorpoet.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/marvin-berry.jpg

I want to use my DeLorean to prevent this thread from ever have happening. Perhaps I could lock losingit2k in a car trunk at the EXACT time this thread was created

This demonstrates precisely how time travel can be used, and why the time machine must not be destroyed, after we straighten all of this out.

Oh, and Johnny, be careful around that losingit2k character. He's got a few short circuits in his bionic implants.

I was once successful in altering the present by changing the past. losingit2k had made 26 "Alphabet Tour Setlist" threads whereby he'd list a Rush tour setlist that would consist of songs beginning with a specific letter of the alphabet. For tours in which there weren't enough Rush songs to fill the setlist, he filled them with his own ideas of what a Rush song title might be for that specific letter.

For example, The "X Alphabet Rush Tour Setlist" had songs like:

- Xanadu

- Xenophobe

- X is Stencil

- Xanadu (acoustic version)

- XYZ

- XY Chromosome

- Xanadu (with strings and drum solo)

- XXX (The gangbang of goats)

It was a f***ing nightmare. Traveling back in time and preventing him from posting all 26 of those threads was the greatest thing that I've done for this universe's TRF.

couldn't have gone back and killed hitler as a teenager or something?

Killing is easy. You try and stop losingit2k from making a setlist thread (let alone 26 of them) and tell me how easy it is. A simple 'Thanks' would've sufficed.

thanks... :eh:

The Alphabet RUSH tour setlist:

Set 1:

Anthem

Big Money

Caravan

Distant Early Warnings

Entre Nous

Freewill

Ghost of a Chance

Headlong Flight

In the Mood

Set 2:

Jacob's Ladder

Kid Gloves

Limelight

Marathon

Natural Science

One Little Victory

Prime Mover

Quantum Physics (Drum Solo)

Red Barchetta

Subdivisions

Tom Sawyer

Under the Shadow (Part II of the Necromancer)

Vital Signs

Encore:

Working Man

Xanadu

YYZ-

(Zoolander Outro Video )

I'm not a fan of the setlist game but this is weirdly awesome. I particularly like the clever incorporation of the Q

This may be a decent analogy - or not. I haven't had a martini yet.

Anyhow, while watching some Primus vids today while my students completed a meaningless worksheet on a quickly-forgotten novel no one cares about, I wondered:

Les Claypool is a much better technical bassist than Geddy, right?

But Geddy is a far better musician.

Sounds like Rush and the Beatles, respectively.

Eh, I get your point, but I've always felt way too much emphasis was/is placed on the " chops" aspect of Rush.. I think they are criminally underrated songwriters..

You have a point. Over the years I've discovered how good of a songwriter Geddy is. His work on MFH is quite good, but even a taken-for-granted song like "Time Stand Still" is a brilliantly-crafted tune. Rush has long mastered the art of the rock song structure.

I was going through the threads and I saw this one and just couldn't resist! I thought it was funny at the time but had no idea that anyone would actually start the debate up again. :rfl:

Unfortunately , no one seems to notice. They only want to talk about YYZ and La Villa..funny story...My nephew and myself were discussing the rock hall snub, and he said " well they dont give a shit if neil peart has great chops", implying that is all Rush is known for..its that type of attitude i hate.
