CygnusGal
Southerners in the U.S. pronounce it pi-khan (with a short i) as in pith or bridge. Everywhere else, I hear (and used to pronounce it as) pee-can. I prefer the southern pronunciation and that I what I use today. Plus, it does have that khan aspect. :D
Aikenrooster
Emeril Lagasse says "pe khan" so that must be right!!! I think that is the way it is supposed to be pronounced. I've always said "pee can" but that's not the way it is supposed to be pronounced in the American South, and in some places, you'll be corrected. I do not want to eat a pee-can pie.

I pronounce how I see it.
