Peh-kahn, of course.

Pee-can? What are we? Peasants?

Southern folk talk funny.

Southerners in the U.S. pronounce it pi-khan (with a short i) as in pith or bridge. Everywhere else, I hear (and used to pronounce it as) pee-can. I prefer the southern pronunciation and that I what I use today.

Plus, it does have that khan aspect. :D

Emeril Lagasse says "pe khan" so that must be right!!! I think that is the way it is supposed to be pronounced. I've always said "pee can" but that's not the way it is supposed to be pronounced in the American South, and in some places, you'll be corrected.

Puh-cawn all the way. Where I'm from, if you say 'pee-can,' you will be made fun of. You might even cry.

This is the correct answer. :P

A pee-can is something you take on a long car drive. I can't keep a straight face when I hear someone say pee-can. I do not want to eat a pee-can pie.

How can pe sound like pu. Do you pronounce peanut purrrnet? Why don't you spell it puhcawn (purrcorn?) if you want it spoken like that. I pronounce how I see it. :moon:
