One Week Rush Purge

I've been listening to a lot of Rush lately, probably too much. It's a blasphemy to say it I know, but, I'm starting to feel like I've been taking them for granted. So, in order for me to more fully appreciate the genius of Rush, and the wider world of music in general, I'm going to take a week off from Rush. Either next week or the one after, I'm going to go for 7 days without listening to any Rush.

So, this is where I need your help. I've been trying to expand my musical palate lately, and I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

My favorite Rush album is Permanent Waves, and I view the period from AFTK-Signals to be musical perfection. Clockwork Angels is ranking pretty high up there too.

Other favorites of mine include Relayer (Yes) and Houses of the Holy (Led Zep).

Lately I've been listening to a fair bit of Primus, Radiohead, and Mastodon.

I'm trying to make things somewhat varied and diverse, although I tend to generally prefer Progressive or Experimental music, Hard Rock, and straight-up Classic Rock. I'm especially looking for classic and modern prog acts.

I appreciate any suggestions you guys may have for me. Thank you!

King Crimson.. The Beat..Discipline ... 3 of a perfect pair .. thrak all good albums. Scorpions Love Drive and Animal magnetism. How about Genesis Abacab or Genesis 1984 albums very good. Talking Heads awesome 80s new wave. Oingo Boingo Good for your soul and nothing to Fear albums very different but are catchy and rock. Deep Purple come taste the band and burn all these are staples in my vaults lol and all good stuff. also yes drama very progressive.

If your into experimental and progressive music, check out King Crimson and Yes - I would suggest 'In the court of the crimson king' and 'The yes album'

I can agree with this sentiment. Don't forget "Poseidon" as well.

Then you can follow Greg Lake to Emmerson, Lake, and Palmer, and pick up "Tarkus", an excellent album.

I'd say anything from Steve Vai.

Flex-Able for it's sheer peculiarity and the sound of Epicness as it's just emerging...

Passion And Warfare coz it's a freakin' classic

Fire Garden It 's just too much for words...

The Ultra Zone Another one where words simply fail me.

Alien Love Secrets Just... seriously. If none of the others, you gotta give this one a few thousand listens... heart.gif AlienSmiley.gif

Lindisfarne is a classic progressive rock act that seems pretty good for what I've heard of them

This looks like English, but those words... in that order... just don't make sense.

A week off from Rush, going to take, I am....

Why don't you try Nickelback? Rush is on the same tangent
