Can I get an amen?

This record is freaking incredible!

I am not in a metal mood right now, but I concur! I played this yesterday and I thought it was tremendous!

RIP...have you heard it? It's the best thrash record EVAH!

Erm...it's a bit early to declare it better than Testaments The Legacy, is it not?

The Legacy isn't even Testaments best album. A great debut, no doubt but not their best. I can see how someone could like Dystopia more though. It has better musicianship, lyrically and production wise it puts Testament's first album to shame. And this is coming from someone who loves Testament.

Dystopia fukkin rules :haz:

Screw it, I'll see Megadeth in Niagara Falls. Dystopia is good

It's too bad Megadeth never really plays much new material live anymore, even when the new album is really good. I'm guessing they'll play the first three songs and Lying In State and that's it. Maybe one of the other tunes will pop in and out of the set but three or four new songs seems to be it for them.

This always surprised me, they tour alot. So i would think he would want to mix it up for himself

Nope.

Their typical setlist includes Wake Up Dead, Peace Sells, In My Darkest Hour, Set The World Afire (semi-regular), Holy Wars, Hangar, Tornado (maybe another one off RIP instead of this one), Skin O' My Teeth, Symphony, Sweating Bullets, A Tout Le Monde, Trust, She Wolf and a couple new songs and that's it.

Stale isn't even a strong enough word to describe their setlist. It's the reason why I haven't seen them live in 5 years even though they're one of my favorite bands. All the songs they do are great for the most part but there's this mail it in feeling to their live shows.

15 or 16 songs max are their shows.

Yeah, never more than 2 or 3 from a new album.

Just listened to the new album, again. One of the better ones, I think. Again , very clean and mixed well.

Dystopia is great, and I like Poisionous Shadows. The last song is punk influenced. I kinda like it.

Now, listening to the new Fear Factory album. f***ing heavy as hell.

It's true Megadeth have done pretty much the same set for a while now, but back on the United Abominations tour of the UK they did around 5 or 6 off that record. They really plugged it & it was a great set.

They only did four off UA when I saw them on that tour. Sleepwalker, Washington Is Next, Never Walk Alone and Gears Of War. Why the title track wasn't played is beyond me?

When I saw them in 2005 they only played the first four tracks off The System Has Failed.

I didn't see them when they toured for Endgame but they were usually playing five. That's only because Dialectic Chaos is an instrumental intro. Otherwise it would be just four again.

I understand bands have to save room in their set for some of the old favorites. But what I never get is why they will record a great album that has 10-13 tracks and play less then half of the tunes when you're supporting that album? Just seems like a waste to not represent as much of the new album as possible.

They may as well just record four song EPs and release them if that's all the new material they're gonna play.

The same with Testament on their tour for Dark Roots. They played the first four songs off and that's it. Um, why did they bother to record the other five great tunes for that album if you weren't gonna play them at some point?

They did the 4 tunes you mentioned plus UA & Amerikhastan when I saw them. You're dead right though, why release a new album, do a tour & then not plug said album? It's daft.

Megadeth are one of my all-time fave bands & I'm generally OK with the same-ish set they play each time. I'd rather see them than not see them.

However, I really wish they'd drop Trust & She Wolf. I am sick to the back teeth of those songs.

I really really hate the bloodiness of those Dystopia cartoon videos. I hate seeing all that carnage. Decapitated bodies, etc. Gross. Too much like the news. Edited by gypsy muse
