ColdFireYYZ
I don't really like Stay Frosty but The Trouble With Never and Blood and Fire are very good. So far, based on the samples, I'd rank the songs in this order: Blood and Fire The Trouble With Never Tattoo Stay Frosty
goose
QUOTE (danielmclark @ Jan 25 2012, 04:25 PM) It's incredibly thin to me. There just seems to be *no* bass here to speak of. I can kinda hear it a little bit waaaay in the back, but the song overall has no OOMPH to it. These songs are not good.
danielmclark
I'm gonna pass on buying the songs like that - if I buy the album later (and that's a very big IF) I don't want to have already paid for a couple of songs.

treeduck
It's clear Ed hasn't rediscovered the brown sound of the late 70s and early 80s but it sounds pretty solid. oh and: It turns out that "Blood And Fire", the newly previewed song from VAN HALEN's "A Different Kind Of Truth" album, is not so new after all. After a 90-second sample of track was released earlier today, the band's hardcore fans were quick to point out that it is based on an instrumental called "Ripley" from "The Wild Life" movie. Released on VHS in 1984 and starring Chris Penn, "The Wild Life" featured a score written by VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen. Only one song ("Donut City") was included on the movie's official soundtrack, while others, including "Ripley", are heard throughout the Cameron Crowe-directed film. Here's Ripley for comparison: Edited January 26, 2012 by treeduck

MMCXII
QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Jan 25 2012, 12:23 PM) Sure. If you bury it in the Tattoo thread people won't look. Plus we're competing with Dream Theater for the most obnixious posts. Just...ignore it, like when there's violence and offensive gay things on the television. Don't write to the FCC, just...change the channel. I say there shouldn't be so much VH on a Rush site! The new stuff sucks and they don't matter much anymore imo.. Lost In Xanadu
I listened last night, and I agree with everything that's been said about the track. 1. Much better than Tattoo 2. Intro has a Deja Vu feel 3. The overall sound is thin 4. Bass is almost non-existant 5. The chorus does feel a bit awkward

USB Connector
Alright! Quality is starting to rise on the album. I'm looking forward to the re-record of She's the Woman, it seems that it will be the best song on the album.
