Sabbath with Ozzy, they're back!!! And this time they're not just touring, they're unleashing an all-new studio album for the first time since 1978!! ohmy.gif

Van Halen with Dave Lee Roth, they're back!! And this time they're not just touring they're unveiling an all-new studio album featuring DLR for the first time since 1984!!! ohmy.gif

Similar scenarios no? But who is going to be more successful? And which album will be better?

This is what you RUSHIES need to work out before it's too late and the albums are already in your clammy hands!

I'd rather Van Halen, but just wonder how far it will actually go. Ozzy annoys me too much because of who he's married to.

You are annoyed based on someone's partner?

This poll should only be viewed from the point-of-view of the actual music!

I think the VH album has a better chance of being disappointing, but I also think it has more upside potential. Sabbath will be a bunch of dark and dirgy tunes, probably along the line of Psycho Man. Nothing wrong with that, but I think VH will be potentially more spry. I think Sabbath is the safer bet. Edited by Presto-digitation

even though I like Sabbath better, I have more faith the new VH album will be better.

and damn, I wish I read all the choices because I'm definitely more looking forward to the new Judas Priest record 1022.gif

Went with "Sabbath will deliver better tour, Van Halen will produce the better album"... I believe that VH can still produce some great music (I'm not so sure about BS). However, when it comes to touring and playing the older material, I think VH has a problem with the fact that they all think they're young and still act like it (*ahem* DLR *ahem*) and the fact that I won't be seeing Michael Anthony with them is still an issue to me.

The difference between Ozzy, and Roth is that at least Ozzy, and Tony always got along.

Something that is sorely lacking in the VH reunion.

The WANT is in the Sabs. I feel that VH is putting out an album purely for the sake of it.

Both of these reunions will be disappointing, and more of a sad reminder of the ravages of time than anything else. It'll be like watching an Andy Griffith show reunion...the entire time you won't be able to get just how old they are out of your mind.

After 28 and 34 years, any chance they'll recapture the magic is close to zero. Sorry to say, but I can't imagine any other outcome.

See I see it just as the opposite. This Sabbath thing feels forced. Oh, Dio is dead so we'll get back together. VH has been back with Dave since '07 and now a record and subsequent tour is coming.

Frankly I don't care if they get along or not. Fleetwood Mac's Rumours was BORN out of the worst possible relationship problems imaginable. Great work can come from tension. Of course it all may just SUCK to holy Hell too. We'll just have to see.

My hopes are that both live up. Next year suggests albums by Rush, Kiss, Van Halen, and Black Sabbath. That just doesn't suck to me.

Hell yeah. 2012 is going to be a GREAT YEAR.

The only thing that would make it better would be an AC/DC album thrown in there.

Well...

In this case, it does affect the actual music output. eyesre4.gif

I think both albums will have something to offer. Actually, I'm pretty excited for '12... Sab, VH, Priest AND Rush?

Wow.

If we gotta exit the planet in fiery cataclysms, we gotta killer soundtrack.

Sabbath. Easily.

Van Halen easily!!

This album is going to be a retro party rock record!! It's going to smoke Black Sabbath's doom and gloom cliche guitar riff redundancy.

This post is full of ignorance.

Most of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - Never Say Die is CHOCK full of ANYTHING but doom, gloom, and sadness of the first 4 albums.

All of Technical Extacy, and Never Say Die! are basically Bluesy synth/prog.

That said. You are probably right.

Black Sabbath is TOO hinged on f***ing Paranoid as their legacy, when they have 7 other albums to draw from (Ozzy Era of course.)

The new album better not be another f***ing Master of Reality fest, like The Devil You Know was, with Dio.

If that's the direction VH goes in I'll be very surprised. I could see them having some measure of success going that way, but... I don't know that they're the kind of band to go retro. I have a feeling they're going to try to make it modern and fresh, which I think is a problem because they haven't made successful music in 15 years - together or separately. I don't think they have any idea what modern and fresh means, or if they do, how to pull it off. They're in a tight spot having wasted fans' goodwill over the years and putting this project off so long.

Dude!!

I just stated a few days ago somewhere on here that I was part of the minority of Sabbath fans who absolutely loves "NEVER SAY DIE!" I think it's on one of Ducks Sabbath Polls!!

I'm a huge fan of both bands, but for me at 43 years young, I want a new kick ass brown noise Van Halen hard rock record. Not some old, tired band trying to do one more round for another Sharon Osbourne Cash Grab!!

I love Iommi, but he should do something else and retire Sabbath!!

I hope the new Sabbath album proves me wrong as at the end of the day I will be all over it like white on rice.

I want "FAIR WARNING II!"

I know, I'm dreaming!

I read you loud and clear! It won't be the same with M.A.'s incredible back up vocals, but alas it will be a new album!!

I wonder if Wolfgang's bass lines are getting better with age?

I saw that last Van Halen Tour twice and I thought the kid did a good job musically, he just didn't fit in visually.

Holy shit! Take a look at this picture! Eddie fukking looks like David Bowie! cool10.gif
