Yeah, I was. apparently somebody in this thread jumped the gun and thought I was making an issue out of Neil giving a clinic. I don't have a problem with Neil giving a clinic. It's just that the lyric popped into my head once seeing the word "clinic". Of course, I wouldn't be interested in the clinic because I'm not a drummer. I just hope that those who attend the clinic aren't just going to meet Neil. edit: Thank you, Mara. Xanadoood....pretty jumpy there, weren't you? Perhaps something personal involved, or, he's just a plain real nice guy who decided he had a day to spare for such an event. How do you know he didn't take a plane?! Or motorcycle!? No, I kid, I kid. Haha, well, I wasn't thinking any sort of negative ulterior motives or anything, I would never assume the worst concerning anyone... I'm just curious. I know there have been a few big names come to my old high school before to give clinics to our jazz band. A couple have been graduates who made it big and wanted to come back, say hi, and give back. Others were just invited and thought it was a neat gig to do. I'd say he's a relatively busy guy, since the tour ended just a month ago and of course he's got his family and everything.. Like I said, pure curiosity.

But so far, I've been in a train and a room, and a car and a room, and a room and a room. Well, maybe that's all right for a bunch of powdered gee-gahs like yourselves, but I'm feeling decidedly strait-jacketed." He hee, nah, that was actually grandpa from A Hard Days Night. I hope you didn't feel the need to further explain to me. He's not known for doing clinics, so I thought you had a good question.

circumstantial tree
On the contrary, I don't hate Neil. I just don't always agree with his views on religion and wish he'd get off of that topic. It would be a refreshing change. By the way, when I was being interviewed, I was forthright with Sam on things I didn't like and mentioned I wasn't crazy about their more recent material. The interview lasted an hour but you see that my presence in the documentary was 10-15 seconds long.

So I did. Ain't ever moving back to NJ, either. But your points are all well taken; not a lot of people live here. I may well have had more people living in my old town in NJ than live in the entire state of VT. People around here worry about a terrorist attack on the nearby nuclear plant. I point out that no self-respecting terrorist would attack Vernon, VT. How do you brag about it? "That'll show those Americans! We killed all 3 people living in the state!" At any rate, Neil should have played closer to here. My local bar has (the) Macallan. I am green with envy kbomb106 - I don't think he would ever play here in Florida, NY with Polka King, Jimmy Sturr.

At first glance I also thought CT's comment was some kind of dig at Neil, but then I realized he was probably just quoting the lyric. I'm actually surprised there hasn't been more Neil bashing in this thread. I thought the angle would be, "if Neil REALLY cared about the fans, he would have let us know about this so we could have been there! Thanks a lot, Professor!" Earthshine
QUOTE (Atomic @ Aug 3 2011, 02:45 PM) QUOTE (Earthshine @ Aug 3 2011, 01:33 PM) What did he do at the clinic? Did he teach anything? Did he have any kind of format? Or did he just play? Of course he had a program... First he said, "I'm enormously powerful..." and then he said, "watch and learn kids... watch... and learn." And then he ripped into a 6 hour 40 minute solo. Then he ran off to the bus, while giving everyone in attendence the finger and drank himself into oblivion while telling Michael what a bunch of kiss-asses they were at the clinic. Then he got on his bike the next morning and rode home to Morin Heights, QC... thinking how cool he is. I am sure that is exactly what happened. I am not kidding. "According to a post on the Hudson Music Facebook page yesterday, Neil Peart gave an unannounced 1-hour drum class at The 16th Annual KoSA International Percussion Workshop, Camp & Festival at Castleton State College in Castleton, VT over the weekend. The Facebook post includes a picture of Neil at the workshop along with this caption: An unannounced class by Professor Neil Peart at Kosa/Vermont. A pretty special day... A special day indeed! Hudson Music also added the following details in the comments on the Facebook post: Neil did a great class and played drumset with a small percussion ensemble and he also played djembe with them to close out the class. A good time was had by all.... Wow. Thanks to Ken for the heads up." Here is the picture: http://www.rushisaband.com/images/201108/1971.f.jpg Love that color!!!!!!!!!
